Judge rules against Green on PAC money (WI)
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 12:51 PM by bobthedrummer
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports a Dane County judge has ruled that the WI. State Ethics Board order that Republican US Cong. Mark Green return $468,000 illegally transfered to a state account was
correct.

Green is involved in a very heated race for Governor in Wisconsin, a race that is tainted by widespread political corruption cases over the past few years.

As this ruling came down Mr. Cheney is scheduled to meet at a Republican fund raiser for Green at Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel today.

A sidebar to this PAC money story: prominent Wisconsin Republican, Michael F. Wille, died in a plane crash in South Dakota last week. Mr. Wille had flown many Republican politicians and their families to events over the years-including Mark Green, Tommy Thompson and even a President's wife and son.

Mr. Wille was the national chairman of the title industry's political action committee/TIPAC and the President-Elect of the American Land Title Association/ALTA.

3. I Thought There Was The Distincy Possibility That He'd Have To Pay That ,

5. That was the total PAC money that Green received and transfered
a ruling that the $468,000 was only a portion of it was issued last week-therefore the possibility is open on returning all of it, which Green's campaign has refused claiming it was "spent".
Check out the WI. forum.

4. Wow....doesn't this sound suspicious
You have to wonder if he should have had anyone in that plane, like, maybe, a troublesome candidate.

Nowadays, it's just too easy to speculate. Perhaps the GOP would rather have a less contentious candidate on the ballot? Are there provisions in the state rules for replacing a croaked candidate in WI on a general election ballot?

6. Well, I remember voters chose a dead candidate over Ashcroft...
and there sure have been a lot of plane crashes since then.

7. Yep, I thought of Carnahan, and then Wellstone....but who's to say
they couldn't dump one of their OWN as well, if they were permitted to replace him on the ballot with someone who appears to be a bit 'kinder and gentler???'

8. There's something paradoxical about Mark Green-he refuses to
return illegal PAC money (a crime and a sin) yet Green was the US Congressman that proposed making the criminal war pResident's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives PERMANENT.
