No hope for GOP in some districts
ASSEMBLY RACES WEAK WHERE DEMOS DOMINATE
By Jessie Mangaliman
Mercury News

State Assembly Districts 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27 and 28. Some political analysts say state races in these Bay Area districts that span San Mateo County to the north and Monterey County to the south, being in Democratic strongholds, are all but locked up by their Democratic incumbents or nominees.

``It's just a bad bet for a Republican,'' said longtime Democratic political strategist Darry Sragow. ``I would say, `Don't take out a home equity loan to run a campaign.' ''

Republicans have an equally dim, if realistic, view of their nominees' chances. Allan Hoffenblum, a former Republican political consultant who is publisher of ``California Target Book,'' a publication that tracks campaigns and elections, has handicapped the districts.

He has one devastatingly succinct word to describe the chances of Republicans: none.

1. I don't know why they claim Dem domination just up to San Mateo
You can continue north along the coast quite a ways north of San Mateo before you find a district that a republican has any hope of winning in.

2. Given our losses from Kenny Boy's Enron scam
it amazes me that there are ANY republicans left in California. I figure there are basically two types: crooks and dupes.
