Dobson preaches mixed message (Criticizes GOP but Re-elect Them)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06264/723748-53.stm

Standing before an enormous American flag in Mellon Arena, conservative evangelical activist James Dobson told thousands of supporters he was deeply disappointed in the nation's Republican leadership, but that the nation's future depended on re-electing them.

"I have flat-out been ticked at Republicans for the past two years," he said, to some applause from a crowd that arena security estimated at around 3,000.

However, he said, "This country is at a crisis point. Whether or not the Republicans deserve the power they were given, the alternatives are downright frightening."

Dr. Dobson, who has built an enormous following in three decades as a Christian radio psychologist, is renowned for his ability to turn out the conservative "values voters" who tipped the last election.

<snip>

Rally organizers had split the 17,000 arena with a curtain. It's central sections were packed, though the upper decks and farthest side sections were empty. Local conservative organizers had said before the rally that 3,000 was the maximum that such an event rally would ordinarily draw in Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Dobson thanked those who came for taking time out on a busy weeknight.

1. Yeah, he's raked in the $ and got rock star treatment by W
He could care less about the poor and needy. But like Frist, he's not an animal lover. He gets into beating puppies.

4. As a postal worker,
I WISH it were legal to toss out this guy's mailings. I can't; I'm duty-bound to sort his drivel.

Incidentally, I'm considering getting on ALL these mailling lists, and posting to DU when they go through our system (the postal service, I mean). It would give us a couple days' notice of them sending their pap, at least in the SW MI-NE IL-NW OH- N IN- areas.

Do we have other postal workers here at DU? Maybe we could show a correllation between these RW orgs and the admin's policies- I for one would LOVE to show the nation that * policy is being driven by outside, fringe groups- and I'm not unwilling to use my employment for political purposes.

I WILL NEVER HARM THE DELIVERY OF THE US MAIL. Period.

But there's nothing saying I can't report upon what going through. :D

5. Imagine the Fairness Doctrine reinstated...
People like James Dobson and Rush Limbaugh would vanish overnight.

For those too young to remember it, the Fairness Doctrine meant that broadcast stations were required to provide equal time for opposing viewpoints. It meant that, back in the day, you simply didn't have hours upon hours of right-wing harangues on the airwaves.

Imagine a world with no James Dobson. Pleasant, isn't it?

7. #1 argument for taxing religion!
Welfare Queen Dobson needs to get off the gravy train. If he wants to play, make 'em pay. Think of all the REAL tax relief the poor could get when these billionaires start to pay their fair share!

Render under Caesar, Jimmyboy!
