CNN.com: Senator (Voinovich) compares Iran's president to Hitler
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/19/iran.usa.senator.reut/index.html

"Ahmadinejad -- I call him Ahmad-in-a-head -- I think he's a Hitler type of person," Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich said during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.

"He has made it clear that he wants to destroy Israel. He has made it clear he doesn't believe in the Holocaust. He's a, he's a -- we all know what he is," the senator added.

1. Wow. Such an articulate Senator -- and so incisive in his analysis, too.
Did he finish with a rhetorical flourish, a devastating "Neener, neener"?

2. The fine senator might want to be careful whose president he compares to a
Hitler-type lest he draw some responses he might not like to hear.

He has made it clear that he wants to destroy America. He has made it clear he doesn't believe in the Constitution. He's a, he's a -- we all know what he is. He's a fucking asswad dumbass moron with no credibility or native intelligence.

4. So many Hitlers, so little time
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 01:55 PM by tblue
To this lame-ass GOP, EVERYBODY'S a Hitler except them. Classic projection.

Remember this, though, they love to push those emotional hot buttons because their base of GOPoodles responds on cue every time.

8. He's a rebel, and he'll never ever be - any good
See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
How he holds his head up high
When he goes walking by-y-y-y-y-y
He's my guy
When he holds my hand I'm so proud
'Cos he's not just one of the crowd
I bet he's always the one
To try the things I've never done
and just because of that they will say -- Hey!

He's a rebel and he'll never ever be - any good
He's a rebel 'cos he never ever does - what he should
And just because he doesn't do what - everybody else does
That's no reason why I can't give him all my love

He is always good to me - always treats me tenderly
He's not a rebel, no-no-no
He's not a rebel, no-no-no - to me-e-e-e

If they don't like him that way
They won't like me after today
I'll be standing right by his side - when they say

He's a rebel and he'll never ever be - any good
He's a rebel 'cos he never ever does - what he should
and just because he doesn't do what - everybody else does
That's no reason why - we can't share a love

He is always good to me - always treats me tenderly
He's not a rebel, no-no-no
He's not a rebel, no-no-no - to me-e-e-e
(he's not a rebel - no-no-no)
No-no-no
(he's not a rebel - no-no-no)
(he's not a rebel - no-no-no)
No-no-no
(he's not a rebel - no-no-no)

Oh, Senator, really now. Let's not get all gushy about it.

9. Voinovich has no military experience. Figures.
I called his office and basically asked where he gets off threatening Iran when we have divisions that are on 3rd deployments, some soldiers on their 4th.

"I don't believe that as long as he's there that we're ever going to solve Iraq," Voinovich said. "There seems to be a very deliberate, premeditated effort on their part to expand their influence in that area and this nuclear issue is just part of it."

"Thank you for your call," was what I got. At least the staff member wasn't a rude screamer, as one used to find at Cunningham's office, and currently, at Buck McKeon's office.

Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 06:59 PM by pinerow
it cheapens the horror that Hitler visited upon the world...Idi Amin=Hitler...good comparison...Rwanda genocide=Hitler...good comparison...and while I consider the president of Iran a real douche-bag...the Hitler comparison does not apply.

19. Yesterday... Nasser was Hitler (a la Eden), Saddam was Hitler (a la
everybody...

Hitler has long been the politicos' version of "rape"

An overused term that does tremendous injustice to the victims of the real things (Hitler and rape)

20. Hitler's Hitler compares Hiteleresque Hitler to Hitler
Hitler Hitler Hitler Hitler.

Americans are going to tire of the comparisons--until the comparisons are so obvious that nobody will be allowed to make them anymore.

23. voinovich thinks anyone that doesn't give him money is hitler

http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/115874111654320.xml&coll=2

...Nicholas Burns, undersecretary of state for political affairs, agreed with at least part of Voinovich's comments, though he never got quite as personal.

"I think you're right to start with President Ahmadinejad," said Burns, who was at the hearing to discuss Iran's nuclear ambitions. "We've found over the past year or so that he provides some of the glue that holds this international coalition together. . . . And every time he makes an outrageous statement, you find that there's more and more concern around the world." Voinovich's comments created a buzz on Capitol Hill, but his office would not discuss any reaction it received. He need not worry about harming diplomatic relations with Iran; the United States broke them off in 1980.

25. why is last paragraph of story a 'voinovich is independent of bush' ad?
>"The 70-year-old senator has challenged Bush on a number of issues. His opposition to Bush's nomination of John Bolton as U.N. ambassador last year forced the president to sidestep the congressional approval process and appoint Bolton directly."

and they don't even mention that Voinovich "thinks" Bolton's just swell now.freaking mediawhores.
