1. Penn and Ohio...do you feel like you've been "had"? You knew it.
This is business as usual. A real leader would come out and say it...right there...and see what people have to say...answer their questions.

12. Exactly - he now looks idiotic.....
to everyone who knew they were a bad idea AND to everyone who is going to see that he has now repealed them - especially the affected industrial states. We need more of this.

5. Nice how he managed to wait to grab some cash form PA first
The ummitageted gall of this misadministration is beyond the pale. No surprise there of course.

Once again you really have to admire their execution. They played the tariffs going in to their advantage (pure political move), and going out (a more tactical move spun for political purposes). They got to burn the candle on both ends, masterfully bilking the region for campaign cash and support ... truly amazing.

I think I am gonna be sick again...

8. A man of his word. Who sticks by his hard decisions.
Unless, of course, he has to make the even harder decision to change his original hard decision. Strong leader? Right. He's Rove's puppet and he knows it.

14. Here are a few quick facts on why this could cost Bush Ohio:
First of all, he didn't win by that big a margin here last time: despite the high percentage of thugs, morons, inbreds, and unreconstructed rebels in the whole of the Buckeye Confederacy this outstanding candidate of honor, integrity, charm, and compassion managed to scrape by with a mere 165,019 votes.

Here's the size of the industry he just smirked off, according to the web site of the Ohio Steel Council (http://www.ohiosteel.org):

"The latest Annual Survey of Manufacturers ranks Ohio as the number one state in terms of steel production and processing....

"More than 25,000 Ohio residents work directly in steel production and processing, with wages totaling $1.37 billion. The total number of jobs generated by the state's steel industry is in excess of 110,000, which includes jobs in steel and in industries tied to steel....

"According to the latest figures available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Employment and Wages and the Ohio Department of Development, there are 289 steel manufacturing and processing establishments in Ohio, with at least one in 62 of the state's 88 counties."

(emphases mine)

17. Yeah and close to $1,000,000 in Pittsburgh yesterday.
As a former (only 3 weeks ago) resident of the Pittsburgh area, I can ASSURE you that there is no way in hell he will win that region (or PA) in 2004. Democrats SWEPT the elections in Allegheny County last month, and faired well in Philly as well, which is directly related to *'s presidency. 2.5 million people in metro Pittsburgh and 5 million in metro Philly in a state of 12 million. There is no way Bush can legally win PA in 2004!

The worst kind of blackmailer is the one who never had the intention of holding up his end of the bargain. He's a rotter, a skunk, a gangster and an idiot; even algae can see this for the sleaze it is.

23. Note the timing
He always puts out these announcements on Fridays - it'll probably be released around 5.00 pm EST, most people won't even hear about it before next week.
