Bush heads to Capitol Hill to rally GOP
WASHINGTON - President Bush will be facing a tough crowd as he steps behind closed doors to ask House Republicans divided by the politics of war to support his drive for more power to spy on, imprison and interrogate terrorism suspects.

For Bush, the unusual visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday caps a week of high-profile administration pressure to rescue bills mired in turf battles and privacy concerns. It also gives GOP leaders a chance to press for loyalty among Republicans confronted on the campaign trail by war-weary voters.

"I have not really seen anybody running away from the president," House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, told reporters this week when asked about the caucus' split. "Frankly, I think that would be a bad idea."

In the basement conference room in which House Republicans meet each week, Bush was expected to ask for support for two key pieces of legislation he says are crucial to preventing terrorist attacks. One would meet CIA demands that Congress reinterpret the nation's treaty obligations to allow tougher interrogations of detainees, but it's snagged in the Senate between the leadership and a trio of powerful Republicans.

4. Repugs always stick together
We're not talking about a party of principles here, even ones that further ones own selfish goals. A lemming cannot change its nature. It's always got that thing about running over a cliff in the back of its mind.

2. Why does Bush always want what's worst for us?
The only time he gives a damn about an issue is if it gives him more power to spy on and torture people.

5. Bush and Cheney are behaving a lot like Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling
...during the final phase of the Enron fraud deception and cover-up. Well, the are crooks and liars and that is so transparent to those who care to examine the facts carefully.

10. Love this statement:
"I have not really seen anybody running away from the president,"

OH REALLY Mr. Boehner? Take a close look. Go to some Repub campaign events, and then you'll find out all about "running", "radioactive" "avoid like the Black Plague".
