Pelosi rapped over bin Laden comments

Pelosi rapped over bin Laden comments

Republicans are taking aim at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for saying that taking out Osama bin Laden would not “make us any safer,” saying her statements could have a “demoralizing effect” on U.S. troops and the entire war effort.

...

“Even if he is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late,” Pelosi was quoted as saying. “He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But in fact, the damage that he has done is done. And even to capture him now, I don’t think makes us any safer.”

...

Pelosi’s comments “can only have a demoralizing effect on American troops and intelligence personnel who are currently risking their lives in the rugged mountain ranges and deserts of the Middle East in pursuit of Osama bin Laden and his lieutenants,” Hunter said in a prepared statement.

...

But just two days earlier, Vice President Dick Cheney expressed a similar sentiment in seeking to downplay the importance of finding the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sept. 10, Cheney repeated an oft-used administration talking point, saying that the capture of bin Laden would be welcome, but is not paramount.

I guess they're worried about their chances this fall, so they're trying a different approach... their original approach.

7. Jon Stewart said it best...
The reason they took down the CIA/bin Laden unit and are not looking for him anymore is no no one will notice when they don't find him.

9. what doesn't demoralize the troops?
since just anything anybody says demoralizes them -- we must conclude that along with an idiot for a president -- we have the WIMPIEST armed forces in the world.

i mean the republick party is the expert on defending the country and all -- maybe they should get a tougher army?

13. Clarify Please
Everytime I hear one of the phrase by the republicans "If you don't support bush, if you critize anything about the bush administration etc etc you are enableing the enemy.

Now...since our troops are only allowed to hear rush limbaugh who pans the democrats etc etc don't you think they are demoralized enough.

And...as for the terrorists, first who broadcasts anything to them. Second do they all speak English and can understand our broadcasts.

The terrorist and the sects are going to broadcast propoganda and lies all over Iraq to any Iraqi who would listen anyway so what difference does it make what we say.

Timmy boy Osama is a goooood friend of the Bush/Rove/Cheney crime cabal and nothings going to happen to him or his doctor buddy. Who knows? The GOP might need another big favor to control all three branches and add more patriot acts.

If Osama's alive, you can best he's set up a future chain of command right now.Lord only knows (if you pardon the expression) what instructions" he has left in the event of his capture and/or execution. I just can't imagine the rest of Al Qaeda's will pack up and go home.
