Canadians boarding a flight to Calgary last week should not have been fingerprinted and photographed at the Denver airport, says a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

A dozen Canadian passengers on a United Airlines flight were pulled to one side just before boarding the plane, says passenger Mike Dunford.

A security guard explained that because of heightened terrorist concerns, Canadians had to go through tougher security, Dunford said. The group's passports were scanned and they were fingerprinted and photographed.

"Now in the United States I'm obviously on file," said Dunford, who was catching a connecting flight in Denver after a visit to Palm Springs.

3. Oopsie! Looks like we accidentally obtained your fingerprints
and we'll just hold on to them in case we ever need them. Yes, we'll hold on to them forever and ever and ever...

4. I don't see the big deal. It's nice that Canadians aren't required to
provide fingerprints - a level of trust between the two countries. But it's not inconceivable that there are criminals in Canada, and if you have nothing to hide, who cares if they have your fingerprints?

5. Not inconceivable there are criminals in various US security units
Identity theft is a problem, and crime does pay better than most jobs.

If I were one of those people, I would want some info on the clowns who took my prints, just to keep the playing field level and all.

6. Great Idea
So I propose fingerprinting all that cross the border.

The sooner the better. Cripes look at all the criminals, drunk drivers, arrested etc.. It would certainly help get things back in order.

11. Both ways
Murkan crossing into Canada as well. I see entrepreneurial opportunities selling sandwiches and beverages to murkans waiting on the fingerprinting process.

12. You Got
My vote. Waiting for it to occur.

I can just see all those truckers sitting at the border when the computers break down. And what about Mexican drivers on the continentental highway.

Don't forget that the Canadian laws are a bit different than the US laws and criminal offences are defined a bit differently. Like driving 30km/hr over the speed limit or having a DUI.

But anyways, hope you bring it on.

7. Wow! So when are you going to box up a package
and send it in to Homeland Security?

In that package please enclosed and place the following items in marked brown paper envelopes:

1) Hair clippings and some folicles

2) fingernail clippings

3) urine sample

4) blood sample

5) a swap of saliva from the inside of your cheek (DNA testing will confirm that you have nothing to hide)

6) a list of all assets/banking/investment

7) a complete picture of all family members and their DOBs and Social Security numbers

I'm certain that you will receive a lovely thank you note for your glee at relinquishing any and all personal privacy and rights.
