ABC Airs 9/11 Film -- Contested Scenes Remain

NEW YORK The first part of the controversial "The Path to 9/11" movie aired as scheduled on ABC on Sunday -- despite pleas that it be halted by several top officials in the Clinton administraton, among others -- and while several last-minute cuts were made, the key scenes that enraged many liberals remained essentially intact.

E&P had seen a review copy earlier this week. After the edits, the finalized first half of the film (at two hours and forty minutes) was, at most, only about a minute shorter than the review copy.

The final film revealed trims at certain points, and some new dialogue, but key scenes extremely critical of former Clinton national security advisor Sandy Berger and Secretary of State Madeline Albright retained most of their bite.

"Despite admonitions from members of the 9/11 Commission, 9/11 family members, and public officials from across the political spectrum, ABC/Disney chose fiction over fact and entertainment over education in airing their TV show," Clinton Foundation spokesman Jay Carson said in a statement Sunday.

As ABC had promised, the film included a kind of disclaimer, shown on the screen (though only about three times), noting that the film is "not a documentary" and includes "fictonalized scenes," "representative characters" and "time compression." It also de-emphasized its earlier claims that it was mainly based on the official 9/11 Commission Report....

5. Calling the cable company will exert pressure, especially if
you are willing to cancel the "package" which includes Disney.

Using parental controls to block ABC and Disney will not harm them financially; but it will protect your family from the crap both spew out. Disney's rape of children's classics should have been made a capital offense years ago.

8. When you notify the advertisers that you have removed them
and so do several million others, there will be an impact.

2. Nightline After Program
What did you think of Brian Ross's report after the first part of The Path to 9/11 aired?? I thought he did a good job of explaining the TRUTH. Sure, there is plenty of Monday Morning Quarterbacking going on. But they shouldn't put it all on Berger and Albright. Man, that movie made Albright look like a pig.

3. I bet the ratings were BOFFO....not
A lead story at Yahoo this morning says that nearly half of the U.S. blames Smirk to lesser and greater degrees for 911. And all the propaganda in the world ain't going to change a thing. This guy is officially toast. And heads are going to roll at the Mouse House.

6. They are so sued.
They have libeled enough people that there can now be a class action lawsuit.

10. It was run commercial free.
Probably the only way they could get it on air was to run it commercial free. Who was going to pay to advertise on that??

If you want to direct a boycott, it should be against Disney and ABC.

11. Didn't see it
Was too busy watching the Giants vs. Colts game. If I wanted some fiction, I'd go to a movie or read a book.
