Bomb hits Baghdad market, killing 3, wounding 13

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A bomb exploded in a market in central Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least three people and wounding 13 and police said they expected the casualty toll to rise.

It was not immediately clear if the explosion was caused by a roadside bomb, car bomb or suicide bomber.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A roadside bomb explosion near a mobile phone shop in central Baghdad killed at least five people and wounded 17 Sunday, police said.

The bomb detonated at about 11:15 a.m. near Tahrir Square in the center of the city, police Lt. Ali Metaab said.

In the city of Kut, meanwhile, six bodies bearing signs of torture were found in the Tigris River. The bodies had been blindfolded and had their hands and feet tied, said Maamoun Ajil al-Rubai, an official with the hospital morgue where the bodies were taken.

Kut is 100 miles southeast of Baghdad
