Campaign Trouble Reported in Venezuela
Demonstrators hurled rocks and bottles and gunfire rang out Thursday as Venezuela's leading opposition presidential candidate toured a slum stronghold of President Hugo Chavez. At least five people were injured.

Manuel Rosales' motorcade came under a barrage of stones and bottles when it arrived in the Catia slum of western Caracas, prompting the candidate to leave his vehicle and continue on foot.

Residents wearing the red T-shirts of Chavez's party chanted: ``Get Out! Get Out!''

Gunshots were fired from a hillside while Rosales greeted residents amid a crowd of supporters and bodyguards.

1. Funny. That sounds like the US Embassy modus operandi
Didn't the US Ambassador like to drive around Chavez neighbors until they got mad at him?

2. Ha! Yes, you bet! William Brownfield ignored the fact the crowd at a
little league baseball game was telling him to buzz off, so they thoughtfully selected some of their favorite fruits and vegetables and eggs from the local vendors and chased him on motorbikes as he attempted to cruise off in his limosine.

Too cool!

He STILL doesn't know when he's not wanted, apparently.

3. Fitting response.
He's a total stooge. Anyway, I also think it's important that there be no provocation. I'm sure the US agents are planning to stir something up and this mustn't be allowed.

4. You're absolutely right. They'll NEVER give up until he's gone.
It's a pity it's going to be that way, as god knows it PREVENTS SO MUCH PROGRESS. Just imagine how much good the Clinton administration might have accomplished if they hadn't tried to destroy him from the very first day of his Presidency.

Same with Carter.

Considering right-wingers are so goddamned loud about bellowing how much they love "democracy," it really makes you wonder why they try to cripple or ruin EVERY President who doesn't let them do the steering.
