Clinton Officials To ABC: Fix Or Pull 9/11 Miniseries
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/07/911.film.clinton.offic.ap/

NEW YORK (AP) -- A miniseries about the events leading to the September 11 attacks is "terribly wrong" and ABC should correct it or not air it, former Clinton administration officials demanded in letters to the head of ABC's parent company.

But in a statement released Thursday afternoon in apparent response to the growing uproar, ABC said, "No one has seen the final version of the film, because the editing process is not yet complete, so criticisms of film specifics are premature and irresponsible."

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Clinton Foundation head Bruce Lindsey and Clinton adviser Douglas Band all wrote in the past week to Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Co., to express concern over "The Path to 9/11."...

22. one must deconstruct the following quote:

"so criticisms of film specifics are premature and irresponsible".

In NLP terms; this decodes to associate criticism with irresponsiblity.
We're being baited...

NLP is a acronym for neuro-linguistic programming. It's the politically correct term for brain-washing/hypnosis.

34. Exactly.
How is it we know the specifics? From the scene clips they've been airing? Or the conservative bloggers shared their booty?

2. Now ABC is stuck
If they leave it alone they will have a messy PR campaign after them which they don't really want. If they edit out stuff that the Clinton officials don't want then they called a left-wing media outlet.

Screw 'em. They should have saved the $41 million and produced a few decent sit-coms.

4. I hope the lettes were just th e first volley!

......Berger objected to a scene that he was told showed him refusing to authorize an attack on Osama bin Laden despite the request from CIA officials. "The fabrication of this scene (of such apparent magnitude) cannot be justified under any reasonable definition of dramatic license," he wrote.

Lindsey and Band objected to advertisements for the miniseries, which they said suggested that Clinton wasn't paying enough attention to the threat of terrorism.

"While ABC is promoting 'The Path to 9/11' as a dramatization of historical fact, in truth it is a fictitious rewriting of history that will be misinterpreted by millions of Americans," they said. "Given your stated obligation to 'get it right,' we urge you to do so by not airing this drama until the egregious factual errors are corrected, an endeavor we could easily assist you with given the opportunity to view the film."

The five-hour miniseries is set to run without commercial interruption. Director David Cunningham said it was a massive undertaking, with close to 250 speaking parts, more than 300 sets, and a budget of $40 million. Cunningham has said he shot 550 hours of film. Among the actors in it are Harvey Keitel, Patricia Heaton and Donnie Wahlberg.

12. I know --thought the same thing when I saw her in a clip
Of COURSE someone like this would be in it. Aside from being a washed, talentless hack who is reduced to shilling for grocery stores, she is a virulent anti-Clintonite who probably jumped at the chance to destroy his reputation further.

14. You also need to contact the shows
you watch that air on ABC and let them know that while you were a big fan, you will not be able to view their show any longer due to the boycott. Contact your local ABC affiliate and tell them the same thing.

What I don't understand is why bush would want 9/11 closely examined. It will only remind everyone that while NYC burned, he was reading My Pet Goat upside down and then flying as far away from danger as he could get.

21. I'd like to see an hour documentary of 9-11 composed of clips
from the news and the full clip of W during the *seven minutes*. It can have commercials. I don't care. It can have 45 minutes of commercials, just don't touch those seven minutes.

11. One nice thing is this
ABC is going up against the first Sunday night and Monday night football games of the season. Do you know how many millions tune out everything but football for those first two nights?

I know they are still spewing lies, but at least fewer people will see it because of it.

10. Man, I can't believe this...
ABC's lies sound like BushCo talking points.

They're saying that the movie isn't finished, and that any comment about the program
is "premature and irresponsible." Notice they aren't denying that those scenes are in
there, nor are they denying that Clinton's claims are incorrect.

These bastards. I will NEVER, EVER watch ABC again. This is just so awful!!!

I would NEVER expect that a network would run Fahrenheit 9/11 and then disseminate study
packets on it in the schools through Scholastic!

Can you imagine what the Freepers would do, if that were to happen????

ABC will never recover from this, if they air this. NEVER!

Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 02:16 PM by lyonn
If ABC gets enough flack they will tweak the film, just a bit! We have seen this happen with all kinds of wacky bushie rhetoric. Throw it out there and see how bad or good the response, like trying to put the stock market into the social security system, hit a brick wall.

ABC has lost more viewers than it could imagine, since they are so obviously tight with the bushies. Tweaking or not they have lost us.

Edit: Since this is a freebie with no commercials there is no doubt what political views they hold.

31. More than a freebie... who's paying to disseminate this crap to schools?
Those study guides are not cheap, nor free!! The free internet downloads also seem to blunt the resale value of this shit. Who's paying for all that? I would be very pissed being a Disney Stockholder right about now.

This is a very overt "launch the PROPAGANDA" campaign as I have seen. Start programming the school kids, the ignorant among us while also stupefying them with 3rd rate educational system of no child's ass left educated. Got to set up the next generation for lies and manipulations while Bu$hitCo implodes!

If the Dems ever win anything back and do not start addressing the sad state of media in this country, then they only have themselves to blame when they are burning on the fascists' funeral pyre!

29. Why shouldn't a network run F-911? It was accurate in its facts!!
F-9/11 was very accurate, Moore was concerned about lawsuits and any wrong facts condemming the entire documentary. The only thing that could be held against it was the facts, ACCURATE facts BTW, that were presented to show Bu$hitCo in the worst light (pretty easy to do, frankly, and easier every day). There is nothing wrong with that, that's the nature of a documentary, even history. There always someone's take on it, thier opinion supported by truthful facts. Some subjects will be controversial, such as F-911. The question is: are the sources of thier facts as accurate as possible? F-911's were.

The 9/11 path to bullshit shown by ABC, owned by Disney, has known lies in it. That is simply WRONG!!
