DeLay Hunting Votes Again -- But Not for a Politician(Dancing w/the stars)
Sept. 9, 2006 — When Tom DeLay was forced to give up his House Majority Leader post last year due to an indictment in Texas, and then when he decided to resign from the House last Spring instead of fighting an uphill battle to reelection, he probably didn't envision getting involved with another campaign so quickly.

However, that is exactly what the former Republican congressman nicknamed "The Hammer" is doing in retirement according to a letter he sent to supporters today. This time he has his sights set on country music singer Sara Evans' campaign to best the competition on ABC's hit show, "Dancing with the Stars."

DeLay's letter urges his supporters to watch and vote for Evans, who performed at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has a history of supporting Republican candidates. "Sara Evans has been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and represents good American values in the media … we have always been able to count on Sara for her support of the things we all believe in. Let's show Sara that same support," writes DeLay.

DeLay also sizes up the competition. "One of her opponents on the show is ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer. We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans," adds DeLay.

3. I had to read it a couple of times before posting
At first I thought it was a spoof or something. But it isn't. It is a real news story on ABC's Go website.

This is how Delay must have been in Congress, micromanaging everything. In all matters great and small, Delay and the GOP must win.

6. I did, too!
:D He's such a freaking egomaniac....anything to send out a letter to his "supporters". He probably asked for a donation at the end of the letter.

5. Not knowing country singers, I googled her name.
Here's her photo and a small article discussing her upcoming appearances on Dancing With the Stars.

So Tom DeLay's got a new hobby. He's all into rooting for people on Dancing With the Stars. The farther away from government he gets, the better it is for everyone.

that they turn even a cheesy entertainment show like DWTS into a battle between liberal and CONservative. :silly:

10. Smut?
One of her opponents on the show is ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer. We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans," adds DeLay.

Ummm... correct me if I'm wrong, but about 8 years ago, wasn't the Republicans the ones waving a seman-stained dress all over the TV cameras? And didn't they scream "Blowjob" so much that it introduced millions of teens to the wonders of oral sex? That now it is part of the vernacular? That it is also standing joke now?

And, quite frankly, I think the corruption of government is far more obscene than anything on Jerry Springer. And let's not forget that Jerry Springer ran HIS political office cleaner than DeLay ran his. That check that Jerry wrote to the massage parlor was personal, I believe.

11. Her husband is a GOP politician. He probably asked Tom to do this.
Bet they're working on a scheme to "fix" the phone-in voting even as we speak.

I’ve had a not-so-secret crush on Sara Evans (iTunes) ever since I saw the video for “Perfect”. Sadly, that crush became a guilty one when I found out that Sara has been riding in the “Backseat of a Bus” for Republicans for a long time now. Below are examples of some of her more conservative moments:

1) She sang before Zell Miller’s and Dick Cheney’s speeches at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
2) Her husband ran for congress in Oregon in 2002 as a Republican. He advocated for lowering taxes, defending the second amendment, and fighting for pro-life causes. Ms. Evans was behind her husband 100 percent.
3) She said the following to CMT:

and I are both conservatives. We’re Republicans. That tends to be a little more controversial in the entertainment industry. There are times when it’s kind of fun. I love him, and I’m so proud of him. I want to support him so much.

4) Sean Hannity said he and Sara Evans are “old friends”. He was even on her tour bus at one point.

15. Her husband is a FAILED gop politician and a professional husband...
during his failed congressional run, * came to the area and campaigned for him 3 times. Guess the pResidential starpower didn't help.
I remember looking at his official campaign website at the time. Of the thirty images present, 27 of them featured his entertainer wife. Seemed as if he was running as Mr Sara Evans.

Pity about Sara Evans. I wish she would come to her senses. Much of her work is quite good, sounding like Nick Lowe's more country pop oriented material.
