Steve Irwins Father "No State Funeral"

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie has offered a state funeral, and Prime Minister John Howard said that would be appropriate, calling Irwin a great ambassador for Australia. But Bob Irwin said it wouldn't be what Steve wanted.

"He's an ordinary guy, and he wants to be remembered as an ordinary bloke," he said. "The state funeral would be refused."

2. It was great of them to make the offer.....
and even better of the family to politely refuse. These are good people.

3. Good on him...
Why let the lustre of an otherwise decent man go to the Greater Glory of a rightwing government...it was theatre to offer it and it was class to tell them to take a hike...

Let's Salute Honesty and Remember a Man who Apparently Touched quite a Few People with his straight forward Character, Flaws and Pure Exuberance for what he Loved.

7. I read where the family...
was planning on a gathering of close friends at The Outback restaurant in memory of Steve.

I find that wonderfully fitting. :)
