5. I'm guessing North Carolina and then hugging the coast
as a storm.. I hope that it curls north sooner, rather than later

7. N.C. still remembers FRAN, and wont take FLORENCE lightly...
Hurricanes have a nasty habit of doing the opposite of what forecasters think they will do once they are in striking range of land.

Moving just a little North today is the same as a storm making a 90 degree turn to the North later.

6. Unless it does curl up north sooner, rather than later....
I'll be out of here BEFORE I know whether or not it could hit NY. Thats really the only way to get off Long Island in time. Once it's announced and they know for sure that it would hit NY, it would be crazy to think you could drive through Manhattan and get out of its way

8. I also live on LI.
There has been so much hurricane paranoia this year. Everyone is talking about the next great NY storm. Maybe they're attracting it.

11. The history channel ran a program about it last week...
the one in 1938. Very scary stuff.

It was estimated that 2 BILLION trees were downed in New England during the storm.

Contemplate that one for a moment.

It was actually very good. There was also Mega Disasters, It Could Happen Tomorrow, and some other shows. Then All State stopped taking on policies for LI. It's like we want the storm to come.

BTW, this weekends little storm took down lots of trees and branches. It was a small mess. My friend and I were commenting on how a hurricane might really make a mess.

17. I'm starting to think the media wants a devastating hurricane to hit
They seem positively gleeful at the prospect. This is not limited to FOX, either, CNN's people seem excited, too.

Don Henley was right about the media.

14. Exactly...Kee-rist!!! It's half an ocean away!
Godammed landlubbers should just shut the fuck up already about every storm that shows up.

It's called Hurricane SEASON for a reason.

Get one close in the Gulf and I'll pay attention.
