6 Philippine marines killed, 19 wounded (US backed offensive)
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine marines clashed with nearly 200 al-Qaida-linked rebels Monday, and officials said six government troops were killed and 19 wounded in the biggest battle in a monthlong U.S.-backed offensive.

The fighting with Abu Sayyaf militants erupted at dawn near the mountainous town of Patikul on Jolo island, where troops sighted gunmen they believed to be protecting some of Southeast Asia's most wanted men — including Abu Sayyaf chieftain Khaddafy Janjalani, military officials said.

Maj. Gen. Eugenio Cedo, commander of the military's Western Mindanao Command, said several Abu Sayyaf rebels also were believed wounded or killed in the two-hour clash.

"We've recovered clothes and bandoleers of ammunition stained with blood," Cedo told reporters.

1. When we break 3,000 do you think something significant will be
associated with that in the public mind?

I mean they're already negative on the Invasion of Iraq, but do you think attitudes will change substantially at 3,000 dead?

These are Philipine Marines fighting Abu Sayef in the Philippines. Still a tragedy, though.

4. Don't forget all the wounded, dismembered and mentally damaged . . .
.
.
.

You are WAY over the 3,000 mark . .

And don't forget,

These are expensively trained professionals that are supposed to be available to PROTECT your country

Now they are not able to, as a result of their deaths, wounds or mental anguish.

The PNACers are depleting the trained people that are supposed to be available to DEFEND the US from a REAL threat.

As well as increasing the grief and anguish of US families losing their loved ones, and watching others deteriorate as a result of wounds or stress.

THIS WAR WAS UNNECESSARY!

And stupid.

It has pitted more nations AGAINST the US than ever before.
