Texan may leave Bush post (Medicare director McClellan)
(Scottie's brother)

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/090306dnnatmclellan.315c307.html

Mark McClellan, the Texan who administers the federal Medicare and Medicaid programs, is set to resign, sources familiar with his decision said Saturday. An announcement is expected as early as Tuesday, said one of the sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

An economist and physician, Dr. McClellan is the older brother of former White House press secretary Scott McClellan. Their mother is Texas State Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn of Austin, a Republican running as an independent for governor.

<snip>

Dr. McClellan, 43, has directed Medicare health care for the elderly and Medicaid health care for the poor during a particularly volatile time as prescription drug benefit plans were implemented for Medicare amid considerable confusion and controversy.

Last month, for instance, the federal government mistakenly reimbursed about 230,000 Medicare recipients for their prescription drug premiums. Sen. Charles Grassley, the Iowa Republican who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, has asked Dr. McClellan to detail the error and explain what steps his agency has taken to prevent another like it

6. What kind of doctor is he?
He could take up non-board certified plastic surgery - They don't take insurance, just cold hard cash in advance of service.

3. Yet another Republican family that needs more time spent with it.
Somebody should inform them that politics and family is not an either/or situtation. Of course, those family "needs" have a way of popping up at very convenient times for most of them.

4. Mommie-dearest has endorsements from "Dem" Ben BARNES
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 11:27 AM by UTUSN
and Latino "Dem" state senator Eddie LUCIO and a teachers' union. Olympus forfend that Dems should support the DEMOCRATIC candidate Chris BELL. And the Lib/Green idiot students are going for Kinky FRIEDMAN the way they went for NADIR, because they are SOOO smart. Sort of the way SPIELBERG endorsed Ahhnuld. All of which means Goodhair slinks back in. So her two boys are freed up to help out with some home chores. Or perhaps do some research for their dad, conspiracy theorist who wrote a book claiming that LBJ killed JFK. A colorful, colorful family.

5. Btw, BARNES recently echoed Howard ZINN almost exactly
He was shilling his book in an interview and said that the Dem party had maintained its previous hegemony in Texas and nationwide by reassuring the big business community that Dems would be just as safe for business as Repukes.

Except that ZINN said it as a criticism.

7. It almost seems like the Kinky candidacy exists solely to keep a Dem from
winning.

McClellan resigning as Medicare chief

WASHINGTON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - The Bush administration's point person for the Medicare and Medicaid health programs, Mark McClellan, is stepping down, the White House said on Tuesday.

McClellan oversaw the rollout earlier this year of the new Medicare prescription drug program for older Americans.

"He'll be missed by the president and the entire administration," White House spokesman Tony Snow told reporters.

The prescription drug program, created by legislation that President George W. Bush fought to push through the U.S. Congress, got off to an difficult start as many older Americans were bewildered by the wide array of choices.

Democrats have criticized the glitches but Republicans hope the new benefit will help them in their push to retain control of Congress in the November midterm elections.

12. I've noticed all the brash young GOP rising stars look alike
They're all white, slightly puffy, baby faced, with slick dark hair. The women are all brittle bottle blondes (with the exception of Malkin, who's a joke).

As for Medicare, the jerk's resigning just before those seniors start to fall through that hole in the doughnut.

Bon voyage. I hope the ship sinks.
