Coulter Column Headline: 'They Shot the Wrong Lincoln' (Chafee)
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003085803

Ann Coulter periodically "jokes" about the deaths of certain liberals and other enemies but this week the killing reference appears right in the headline of her column.

The head is "They Shot the Wrong Lincoln," and the column -- posted today on Coulter's Web site -- refers to U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee, now in a tough Republican primary fight in Rhode Island.

Conservative Coulter blasting a Republican? Actually, Chafee is one of the more liberal members of the GOP, which moved Coulter to frequently insult his intelligence in her Thursday piece.

The Universal Press Syndicate columnist wrote that Chafee is a "half-wit" who "made his living shoeing horses for seven years. In fact, I've often wondered if an errant kick to the head by one of his charges would account for Chafee's rudimentary cognitive abilities."

8. What about the new movie, The Assassination Of Prez Bush
watched just a short clip and the actor playing Bush is his "twin"
very realistic and somewhat disconcerting. I understand the film's
release may be banned in the US.

Oh, regarding Chafee. If Coulter doesn't like him; he's a sure thing in the election.
His opposition is an egotistical blowhard. Not a snowball's chance in hell replacing Chafee!

38. Yes,I am...He's a disgrace to the Party..
The consensus is He's very well disliked within the state.

No doubt Dems stand the best chance they've had in a very long time for a takeover in all political sectors.

But Laffey isn't the best representative of Demo values. His political leanings mimic conservative think.

Chafee's family, although Republican, have built up much political capital within the state.

Linc is a great guy...something Ann Coulter should aspire to be!

Oh- and leave it to Ann to denigrate someone for making an honest living for seven years.

The Rethugs don't mind that but they mind killing a speck of life/embryo.

Also, The Rethugs don't mind a president that inserts frogs rectums with firecrackers and thinks it's funny.

Also that damnable preacher Dobson is respected/adored/worshiped for nearly killing and bulling his little Dachshund with a belt buckle. How brave is he?

Almost seems like you have to have killer instincts to be a rethugican.

Seriously. It's Ann Coulter. Why would you celebrate her assassination? Why would you even care?

Read her work? I'd rather slide down a cheese grater. I know what she has to say. Same thing she said last week, same thing she'll say next week. She's a one note, one trick, one clown circus. As long as someone gets seltzer in the face, there's plenty of suckers willing to pay. Love her or love to hate her, I don't see the big deal. She's annoying, boring, and predictable. The poor dear justs wants a hug; she just doesn't know how to ask for it.

We really cannot afford to ignore her because she apparently sells a lot of books and many news shows insist on inviting her on to speak. Clearly she has some influence. We should hit back and hit back hard.

We should also link the Republican Party with her comments. Here is a woman who regularly suggests killing people who disagree with her. What makes her different from those Islamic terrorists that she and the Republicans allegedly despise?

Her comments about horse shoeing also show complete contempt for working class people. She obviously has no respect for people who work hard to make a living. Unless the Republicans come out and condemn for these comments, it is clear that they share the same views. The next time they complain about "limousine liberals" we should throw her comments in their face.

We really cannot afford to ignore her ... We should hit back and hit back hard.

You're correct that naughty behavior can't be ignored, but hitting back simply reinforces her behavior. Send her to the naughty chair if she can't behave. Did you see how Kirsten Powers gave her an opportunity, then a warning, and finally left her in the naughty spot? Finally, for once, Ann Coulter quieted down and voluntarily left on her own. After all who've tried to hit back, it was the old "time out" that finally yielded results. Wait a minute. Maybe I'm thinking about an episode of "Supernanny". Whatever. Seems to be a tried and true method if you're trying to correct childish behavior.

If you want to see an example of what makes Ann Coulter quiet down, view the video here.

34. Howard Stern made a fascinating observation about Coulter
Discussing her interview with Matt Lauer, Howard and Robin Quivers pointed out how her face denotes a momentary trace of shock/surprise when Matt was reading directly from her book some of the more odious statements hurled at 9/11 victims' wives. Like it hits, 'geez, did I actually WRITE that?'

Interesting tell.

Makes one wonder if, indeed, she DOES write half this garbage she spews out. It would certainly explain why she's one of the WORST self-defenders ever to sit for an interview. Can you imagine this woman defending a doctoral thesis??? Notice how her answers are along the lines of, "well, that's what's in the book," or "well, that's what I said," or "I think I was joking?" I've seen Buckley and Buchanan interviewed similarly and these guys, at least, know how to articulate how they arrived at the idea they write about, whether you agree with it or not.

Not the point, I know. but I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted her father or bothers to support such a man. (Assuming she was born a woman and couldn't vote herself). His liberal agenda (freeing slaves and using big government to hold the union together and such) would surely be a huge turnoff, right?

Brock relates how he and Coulter gave a conservative friend of theirs' some advice on how to minimize the possibility of the friend's sex-scandal-past from ever becoming public. Later, when Brock was asked to provide some dirt on the mutual friend, he called up Coulter for the details concerning the sex scandal, and she instantly obliged.

58. Imagine if the tables were turned and a liberal columnist like Molly
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 02:18 PM by katinmn
Ivens or Jim Hightower said "Cheney should have pulled the trigger on himself" or similar in their headline?

Can you imagine the uproar? Their careers would be over.

What's odd is that they are both syndicated through the same service.

America: Nation of hypocrites.

61. I can't stand seeing this woman's name everywhere I look
She's even worse than Paris Hilton! A no-talent nothing that has somehow managed to garner media attention time and time again. What is the obsession with her? She has a good scam going, say the most outrageous things she can, whether or not she believes it, and wait for the publicity to roll in.

I don't care what friggin thing she says next. Put a stop to it. Her name does not deserve to be in the headlines every single week!

I'm going to hide every single thread with the C-word. And I've never hidden a thread in my years on DU.

And I mean those who aren't democrats and liberals-they've already known what would happen before Bush even took away the White House. Those who label anyone as "democrat" or "liberal" or liberal are simply using language to make it more convenient to eliminate their enemies. Democrats and liberals in this country are still americans and when you start excusing that behavior, you can rationalize going after others too-one day its a democrat, the next day its a "liberal" republican who doesn't agree with a particular platform or agenda. When that happens, nobody is safe.

68. If some RW nut job shot Chafee
I would not be surprised if his survivors sued Ann Coulter for everything she's good for.

That is a very dangerous game she's playing, and that's just on the civil side of the law.

69. Ann Coulter should be eviscerated, stomped, drawn and quartered..
decapitated, dismembered and ditched, boiled, baked and befouled, vitiated, victimized and ventilated, tormented, tyranized and trampled, jailed, jammed and jarred, grilled, gored and guillotined, lambasted, liblled and liquidated, paralyzed, pummelled and pulverized, shivved, shredded and shot.

Heyyyyyy...I'm only kidding...it's just a "joke", Ann.

71. In all seriousness, why was this voted to the greatest page?

Ann Coulter periodically "jokes" about the deaths of certain liberals and other enemies but this week the killing reference appears right in the headline of her column.

BREAKING NEWS: COULTER GOES TOO FAR
Headline displays filth normally expressed in the column -- or on TV, on the radio, or in books

Wow. She just keeps reinventing herself. She's like a conservative Madonna. How can she possibly top this? Maybe next time she'll read her column headline on TV while patting her head and rubbing her tummy - she may not even wear that little black cocktail dress. OH ... MAH ... GAWD.

All joking aside, I'm serious when I say I don't understand why she still gets attention. I know what she said, same thing as last week, same thing as next week. Does Editor and Publisher seriously think it's news because this time it was in her column headline? Please. I wanna know who she's blowing over there.

I'm not saying we shouldn't respond; we should. I just don't see the value in vindicating what she says and letting her set the terms of the discussion. If you voted for it, I'm curious as to why.

Now Kirsten Powers knows how to handle her. I think the poor dear just needs a hug.
