Sheehan Not Coming to Utah (complications from her surgery)

Sheehan Not Coming to Utah

Prominent anti-Iraq war protester Cindy Sheehan is not coming to Utah. Sheehan hasn't recovered well enough from a surgery last week to travel.

...

Sheehan - whose son Casey was killed in Iraq - had a hysterectomy last week. She is still recovering at her home in Crawford Texas, where she recently bought land near to President Bush's ranch.

Patrick Tronson, Spokesman, Salt Lake City Mayor's Office: "Found out last night from Cindy Sheehan's spokesperson that she won't be available for the protest. He doctors say she shouldn't travel due to complications from her surgery."

"Her doctor has given her strict orders not to travel because she's not healing as quickly as we anticipated," said Tiffany Burns, a representative for Cindy Sheehan. "We waited as long as we possibly could to make the decision and she's not well enough to hop on a plane to get there."

9. texas doctors? Crawford Hospital? Cindy Sheehan? Hysterectomy.
Not well enough to travel?

NOW. ARE THESE TEXAS DOCTORS IN THE CRAWFORD HOSPITAL WHO GAVE CINDY SHEEHAN A HYSTERECTOMY AND NOW DEEM THAT SHE IS NOT WELL ENOUGH TO TRAVEL, IN ANY WAY BUSH SUPPORTERS? ARE THEY? because... hey, the awful thought runs through my mind that they may be trying to stop cindy from running in to georgie (whom i think i read will also be in utah?--maybe i read it wrong...) question the bastards . they ought to be able to answer.

I've got no love for TX doctors, or doctors who push for "routine" hysterectomy in cases in which other forms of treatment or management of the women's health issues involved might help a patient just as successfully, but your post insinuates too much even for me. We don't have the whole picture, or rather, anything substantive about the picture, as I continue to read that she is trying to keep this situation low key. I get the feeling that the only reason these details have surfaced is because Sheehan's spokespeople want to address concerns her supporters may have for her well-being and to emphasize that her commitment to her cause has not diminished, and perhaps that she desperately needs the recovery time she is currently taking.

Consider toning it down a bit, would you? Your indignation is not the story here, you know?

13. i have a right to my indignation. you have the right not to read it.
i have the right to present it however i want to present it. you have the right to shut it out.

sorry. i won't tone it down. are you my parent? am I child? do i have a right to free speech?

are you in any way a censor? is this full dictatorship? as an adult i take responsibility for my words and for my actions. i stand by what i said and by what i questioned. i know it is a far fetched idea. given the evilness and covert power of the bushes i don't doubt anything...and if i have to repeat it all over again, i will. she can take her recovery time. i can take the space to question texas, the doctors there, the care they are providing her with, and the fact that texas, from what i have read, is not very welcoming of, or towards, cindy sheehan. the bush administration is known for condoning abuse, it is known for condoning torture, it is known for promoting lies and manipulation, and lots of bush followers are up to the same kinds of things. if my insinuating post punctured something in you, which in any way, made you stop and question, me, the doctors in texas, the bush administration, or the time of day, then my post accomplished what it was meant to do.

12. I've had a hysterectomy, and there is no way I could travel a week
after I had it done. It is a pretty major surgery.

11. Not surprising
I had my (ruptured) appendix removed via keyhole surgery not long ago, and I was down for a solid two weeks afterwards including the 3-day stay in hospital -- in spite of (or because of) pushing myself. Cindy's just undergone major surgery. I hope she pays attention to her doctors and rests so she can heal. Hugs to her!
