U.S. dismisses Bush-Ahmadinejad debate

TEHRAN, Iran - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday challenged the authority of the U.N. Security Council U.N. Security Council as Iran faces a deadline to halt its uranium enrichment and he called for a televised debate with President Bush on world issues.

...

"Talk of a debate is just a diversion from the legitimate concerns that the international community, not just the U.S., has about Iran‘s behavior, from support for terrorism to pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability," Perino said, adding: "Iran may want to look first to allowing free expression and open debate within its borders, as opposed to the current practice of crushing dissent."

6. I would.
Watching them argue would give the cement trucks time to seal all the exits.

13. Ahmedinejad would wipe the floor with *. A may be a loony, but
he definitely has a way with words, a fact to which anyone who watched him shellacking Mike Wallace on CBS' "60 Minutes" can attest.

3. I guess administration officials saw the CNN poll:
Who would win a debate on world issues between President Bush and Iranian President Ahmadinejad?

Bush 38% 13315 votes

Ahmadinejad 62% 21810 votes

Total: 35125 votes

9. Bush couldn't even speak for himself
about this personal challenge. In other words it is an insulting joke and they have to hold it disdainfully at arm's length.

The notion is absurd, by dint of mental defect.

Chicken, chicken, Bwaaakk bwakbwakbwak!

10. And as usual, the BFEE cowers in a corner.
Hear that? That is the sound of multitudes of people joining Hezbollah. George Bush is the best terrorist recruiting tool I've ever seen. At one time I would have never believed my country could be controlled by extremist. They won't even take on a debate by other extremists! Now that is just sad sad sad. On a lot of levels.

It would be the folks who scream from the rooftops about the security threat of gay marriage and the estate tax.

like he did during the 2004 debates. Ahmadinejad said no way Jose! He might be smarter than Kerry was... LOL

27. Give Ahmadinejad credit for trying to open a dialogue w/ Bush
It's creative, if nothing else.

Next it will be bowling. Or perhaps checkers. I doubt Bush can handle chess... "Ha! King my castle thingy!"
