5. One of the goals is to see if their is an "enemies list"
of if certain groups have been targeted: journalists, peace activits, libertarians, members of Congress.

I hope they do follow up on that aspect of this mess - it is important to know if people on DU have been targeted.

12. I'd like to know which Dem politicians may have been
targeted, and how the subsequent info was used. Just how criminal is/was this?

7. Anybody bitches at you about this, use the "illegal immigrant" argument
"What part of illegal don't you understand???"

Throw that in their faces ...

And follow it up that Cheney pointed out that the arrests of the potential bombers from Britain were surveilled using WARRANTS ...

Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 09:48 AM by mcscajun
I'm not holding my breath, but I Am withholding comment until this afternoon. We'll see if this happens and how much press it gets if/when it does.

Two attorneys representing claimants in a lawsuit over wiretapping by the National Security Agency will subpoena the White House today, RAW STORY has learned.

Bruce Afran and Carl Mayer, who represent hundreds of plaintiffs in lawsuits against Verizon, AT&T, and the US Government, will announnce today that they are serving both the Bush administration and Verizon with subpoenas.

The announcement is due to arrive at 4:30 PM, outside of Verizon headquarters in New York, RAW STORY has confirmed.

The subpoenas come on the heels of two federal court decisions that were seen as blows to the Bush Administration warrantless spying program.

15. Remember how outraged we were over The Clipper Chip?
What a terrible, draconian invasion of privacy that was?

Oh, how trivial and quaint that seems by comparison.

If only The Clipper Chip and the right to strong encryption were the biggest invasion of our privacy we faced.

Thanks again, assholes at Wired Magazine, for swinging a few more votes away from Gore.

21. Of COURSE the White House will realize the need to cooperate -
which is precisely why they won't.
They'll f*cking ignore it.

23. In the interest of National Security, of course. Surely you understand
they only have our safety, security and best interests at heart and would never think of abusing the program. If you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear.

:sarcasm:
