Ahmadinejad defiant, challenges Bush to TV debate

Tuesday, August 29, 2006; 8:27 AM

TEHRAN (Reuters) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad voiced defiance on Tuesday
as a deadline neared for Iran to halt work the West fears is a step toward
building nuclear bombs, and challenged President Bush to televised debate.

In a news conference, Ahmadinejad condemned the U.S. and British role in the
world since World War Two but made no direct mention of the international
nuclear confrontation.

"I suggest holding a live TV debate with Mr. George W. Bush to talk about world
affairs and the ways to solve those issues," he said.

Iran has shown no sign it will halt enrichment. The world's fourth largest oil
exporter has shrugged off the threat of sanctions and said such a move would simply
push oil prices up to intolerable levels for industrialized economies.

2. They oughtta make it Pay-Per-View!
I'd pay good money to see those two yahbos go at each other. If I knew it wouldn't lead to WW3, that is.... They could bill it as the "AXIS OF EVIL v. THE ASS OF EVIL". And, all the money raised could go to benefitting CIVILIANS in the ME who have been affected by war... and to replacing the infrastructures of Lebanon and Gaza.

I think it would be a memorable evening.

11. Iran's president says wants TV debate with Bush
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday proposed holding a live television debate with President Bush to discuss global affairs.

"I suggest holding a live TV debate with Mr. George W. Bush to talk about world affairs and the ways to solve those issues," Ahmadinejad told a news conference in which he complained about the U.S. and British role in the world after World War Two.

He did not specifically mention the nuclear dispute.

Or are we not supposed even to speak to sub-humans? As if we would somehow become corrupted if they dared speak some truth.

18. I would SO pay to watch that.
And they could spot Bush the earpiece to make up for the brain cell handicap.

Seriously, though, it would be interesting to hear Ahmadinejad's reasoning for myself. I can only get pieces of things that I'm sure are the most inflammatory parts or his speeches. I grew up just before the Iran hostage era and remember lots of Iranian students at my school who all had to take speech class. Their speeches were very . . . enthusiastic, but they just repeated the same stuff about the Shah, Shah, Shah. I wasn't politically aware enough to even know what they were talking about, but it all came together when the hostage crisis arose. So I just wonder what kind of thought processes he possesses, how he uses logic, what types of events shaped his thinking? The current Administration seems to think we should not be allowed to hear from this guy because he's "evil" - like he has some contagion that's spread through airwaves. But if he's a crackpot (which seems to be the case from what I've heard so far), I think I would be able to tell in just a few minutes. But I can't make a conclusion when all our news is so filtered and edited.

Anyway, it would be worth the cost of a magazine subscription to hear him debate points with the Shrub.

He takes the high road (debates, diplomacy, open letters) and Bush responds with nuclear threats. Why not debate the man,
Mr. President, or would you prefer to have our troops save your ego?

30. Sad, sad day....see CNN poll
{www.cnn.com}

See the poll at the bottom of the page. 2/3 of respondants believe our idiot boy king is likely to lose a debate to a holocaust denying Al Qaeda supporter.

Sad, really. I would have had Clinton 100/1 over Ahmadinejad, even with a dozen interns hanging from his manhood. Most rethugs would have too.

2 years, 144 days, 18 hours, 45 minutes till I can start drinking less. Pray for my liver.

32. Here is the poll:
Who would win a debate on world issues between President Bush and Iranian President Ahmadinejad?

Bush 38% 32443 votes

Ahmadinejad 62% 53952 votes

How pathetic! But then again, CNN.COM is a liberal, pinko commie media outlet :sarcasm:

31. Ahmadinejad-1, Bush-0
If we disregard the fact that both are raving fundamentalists/ authoritarians, Ahmadinejad would talk circles around Bushie. Mr. A has grown up with the traditions of Persian literature and rhetoric. Mr. B can hardly pronounce the word "literature", and suffers from a permanently fried brain.

No Contest.
