TV station reports that Karr won't be charged

BOULDER, Colo. A Colorado T-V station is reporting that prosecutors have decided not to bring charges against John Karr in the death of JonBenet Ramsey.
K-U-S-A T-V in Denver says it's because Karr's D-N-A doesn't match genetic material found on the body of the six-year-old girl.

The station cites two sources close to the investigation.

It says hair and saliva taken from Karr in Boulder after his arrival last week were tested over the weekend at the Denver police crime lab. And it says those tests ruled him out as the source of the D-N-A taken from the crime scene.

1. So the champagne and French wine are on us, the taxpayers?
Right? The fancy foods and A-list treatment. I pay the tab, right?

2. So will they give him the mental help he does need? Or dump him on the
street and take the chance that this disturbed individual may do something later?

3. Doesn't matter,
He served his purpose. He was intended to occupy the attention of the media, and he did. Nothing but a distraction from the ruling that the lying criminal Bush Bastard's illegal spying is constitutional.

6. He will probably face charges in California
Over the child porn case that he bailed out on, there he will probably not get a light sentence given his publicity stunt.

16. I suspect THAT may have been his plan all along...
...to come back to the States.

A confession in such a high-profile case would certainly get him extradited.

Perhaps he preferred incarceration here as opposed to Thailand?

21. According to an AP report
He's being held for extradition to California to face child pornography charges dating to 2001.

Although I though he served 5 months and failed to show up to a court hearing.

All we've heard about for the last few weeks in the news was JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet.

And it appears it was all a cruel hoax.

Gotta love the media. :eyes:

BOULDER, Colo. - Prosecutors decided not to charge John Mark Karr in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, his lawyers said Monday after a TV station reported that the schoolteacher's DNA failed to match genetic material on the 6-year-old girl's body.

"The warrant on Mr. Karr has been dropped by the district attorney," public defender Seth Temin said outside the jail. "They are not proceeding with the case."

Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy's office did not return repeated calls from The Associated Press.

"We're deeply distressed by the fact that they took this man and dragged him here from Bangkok, Thailand, with no forensic evidence confirming the allegations against him and no independent factors leading to a presumption that he did anything wrong," Temin said.

12. This will be interesting, if confirmed
There will be those who say that the whole thing was rigged either way, of course.

17. This story seemed somewhat tentative
Although I gather there are other, more definitive reports now.

I mean that there are some people that will claim that the Boulder Police are covering for Karr and have switched the DNA or something. That school of thought claims that the police have it out for the Ramseys.

On the other hand, if the DNA is a match with Karr(unlikely now), there are people that will claim he was framed because the police are protecting the Ramseys.

I am just saying there are generally a small hardcore of "true-believers" and "true-non-believers" when it comes to cases like this. They can't really be swayed by evidence.

15. So the good people of Denver get to pay his tab
He probably didn't have the air-fare to get himself back from Bangkok so he makes up this story and even gets to fly business class home
Un-frikkin-believable - only in America. :grr:

23. Good, now Faux will have one less reason to divert people from the real...
news. Maybe now they'll actually have to focus on Iraq and help contribute to the decline of the Bush Administration when the sane people who watch that channel realize that we are locked in another Vietnam.
