Bush: New Orleans may need a decade

NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- As he headed for the Gulf Coast on Monday, U.S. President George Bush told an interviewer he expects the rebuilding of New Orleans to take a decade.

Bush planned to spend the anniversary of the U.S. Gulf Coast landfall of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans after a visit to Biloxi, Miss.

"We can rebuild buildings, the question is can we rebuild its soul," he told April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks. "We can. I believe, 10 years from now April, you and I will be thinking about our time here, and trying to remember what it was like 10 years ago"

Bush came under fire last year for apparently ignoring Katrina immediately after New Orleans flooded and then flying over the city in Air Force One.

1. No help for NO "As long as I'm in office."
No help for anything bad in the world, as long as he's in power.

7. Isn't it great? "in a decade" all our troubles will be solved
Iraq, Katrina, NCLB, SS, Medicare, deficits....ain't it grand? For all the problems the politicians have created in the last 5 years, or failed to solve in the last five years...its money in the bank, its a slam dunk....we are gonna be living on easy street in a decade. (sarcasm)

So what do we need the assholes in Washington for? We need to send these bozo's packing.

New Orleans could have been rebuilt by now.

Just like during the storm, this shithead hasn't lifted a finger to help anyone.

10. hate to say it... but George Bush don't like black people...
that's all it comes down to. Pure and simple...

It dont take 10 years to rebuild New Orleans. We rebuilt all of Europe in 10 years after WWII. The country of Japan was up on its feet in 10 years. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were rebuilt after being COMPLETELY LEVELED.

This is just another way of saying that We arent gonna lift a finger to help you people.

> Oh, George. We're going to need several decades to recover from you.

Up above, I said NOLA ain't coming back. Here, I'll speculate that
America ain't coming back either, not for centuries.

Unlike New Orleans, the damage that Bush has done to America *ISN'T*
physical and can't be fixed with bricks, mortar, and spackle. The
damage that Bush has done to America is our global reputation. The
damage that Bush has done to America is the driving off of our friends
and allies. The damage that Bush has done to America is the driving
of a monumental wedge between many different groups of Americans.

None of this will heal quickly. Some of it (such as how the Arab
world views us) may not heal in centuries or even millenia.

Bush's damage is long, long lasting and he mayvery well have destroyed
America forever.

14. He's Right (sarcasm)
He's right.

2 years left of him doing nothing, and 8 years of a Democratic Administration to help New Orleans back to its feet.

Broken clock is right twice a day, and all that.

Rummy and who knows who else gets to steal by 'proxy' as much as they can for the BFEE. Everyone knows it, even the freeptards.

16. Well, buildings can be rebuilt, with assitance. So how about that W?
How about freeing up some of the money, and getting more money to the people who need it to actually rebuild those buildings?

21. Face it: NOLA as we knew it *AIN'T* coming back.
Doesn't make any logical sense (too vulnerable to future
destruction, no matter how much money is pumped into sea
walls)

AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY...

Doesn't make any political sense for Republicans (a blot
of brown Democrats in the midst of White Christian Rep-
ublican Confederistan).

23. Greg Palast did a piece on Democracy Now yesterday.
Apparently the Quarter and Downtown are fine. The low income housing between the two is physically fine however the folks who live there haven't been allowed to move back. I think that sez alot.....and none of it good.
