Seattle Firm Warned BP About Pipeline
An engineering firm raised a red flag more than four years ago about BP's monitoring of its Alaska oil pipelines, documents show.

The draft report by Seattle's Coffman Engineers, published in November 2001, is among documents being reviewed by a federal grand jury in Anchorage that is investigating a March oil spill of more than 200,000 gallons from a pipe on the western side of the Prudhoe Bay oil field.

BP shut down part of its operations at the oil field this month after leaks and corrosion in low-pressure pipe were found on the eastern side.

The engineering firm's final report was significantly toned down after BP responded to the draft, the documents showed.

1. It's like any other piece of equipment
on needs to take care of it once in awhile and not let something that you are counting upon to deteriorate.

BP should be punished for their irresponsibility. Conservatives think only Joe Six Pac needs to be responsible...not business. Repbulican Conservatives need to clean up the mess they've made.
If BP spent the money on taking care of their field pipes THE STOCKHOLDERS WOULDN'T GET AS MUCH RETURN, capitalism the god that is determined to destroy anything and anyone for profit and yet the culture worships at its feet. Its the system that is not working...it is right in front of their noses but they've been filled with so much bull from the first grade up they can't see the forest for the trees.
