Florida: Red tide dumps fish on beaches
SARASOTA -- Just as scientists began to see fish repopulate parts of Sarasota Bay after last year's deadly red tide, a new bloom that has crept up the coast is dumping piles of fish on area beaches.

For three days, the red tide bloom has scattered dead fish from Siesta Key to South Brohard Beach in Sarasota County.

Thursday, Sarasota County cleanup crews filled two dump trucks with a mixture of dead fish and seaweed, said Jerry Dillon, operations supervisor for north county beaches. Beachgoers reported mild discomfort from the red tide fumes, which can cause coughing and scratchy throats.

Peter Harrison, 57, and his family have spent the past six days visiting Longboat Key from London. "It's a shame to see all of the dead fish," Harrison said. "We've really only noticed it the last couple of days. My daughter was coughing a lot. We've never experienced anything like this before."

. . .

The current bloom began in July off Fort Myers and marched north toward Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee counties.

4. Do you have any idea if samples were taken for radiation poisoning
from the dead fish?

A manatee was spotted here off the coast of RI. He found a fresh water source trickling from a water pipe next to the dock. He lingered there for hours, mouth agape, sucking down oodles of fresh water until he was satiated. Very strange for a manatee to be this far north, even stranger seeking fresh drinking water.

I've heard rumors nuclear submarines are dumping expended nuclear fuel all over the world's oceans. This toxic waste could definitely result in the rise in the ocean's temperature and the noticeable rise in acidity of the ocean's PH. If true, this is an untold irrevocable, travesty the world's population will regret for centuries to come.

Nah

PNACers would never do that . . .

They CARE about the environment!

I heard them say so . . .

So it's gotta be true,

They wouldn't lie to us

Would they?

2. Ditto
Went out at Siesta and it was ok a couple of weeks ago, but not so in Venice (further south where we were staying). Water was near 90 degrees, something I've never experienced.

3. Relax, it's not neurotoxic...

...Like the stuff in Italy was. Rapid changes to our biosphere won't effect you at all. Go back to sleep. Vote for big business.

6. Here we go again
Hope its not as bad as the outbreak last year ... that was the worst in years.

Barely missed it on our vacation down on Captiva in late July. :(
