White House sends money to fight pot growing
The White House is sending money and some momentary manpower to reinforce the fight against California marijuana growers.

When national drug czar John Walters lands in Fresno on Tuesday, he'll be bringing a commitment of an additional $2.2 million in law enforcement funding. The money will include $100,000 grants for Fresno, Tulare and Kern counties, as well as more support for a coordinated anti-pot campaign.

He'll also be bringing the extra attention that comes along with the job of directing the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. That, too, has value for local law enforcement officials, even though Walters lacks the star power of some of his predecessors.

"It's all part of our effort to take back the public lands from the marijuana growers," said Bill Ruzzamenti, head of the Central Valley High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.

Glad to see the Emerald Triangle is not on the hit list this year. We had helicopter flights over our house all early summer..COMMIT was training. Now I know where they went. One hates to see one's county to broke over some more bushit.

10. Just confiscate any private land
While most of it obviously isn't, the government will just take any of it that is. Of course that's what this is about. Bastards.

7. Aaah, of course
Funniest story my firefighter son ever told is when a woman came into fire camp screaming hysterically - "My cash crop is burning!!!". Thought they could risk their lives for an illegal pot crop - too funny.

17. I've seen it happen in Humboldt County...
CDF bulldozer cut a fire break right down the chicken wire fence line of a pot patch, saving the day for the grower, who harvested the patch two months later. I was amazed no one got busted after that wildfire.

31. Ya get the right firefighting gang - You bet your BUTT they'll help out!!
.
.
.

Firefighters ain't angels ya know

And I suspect the "owner" of the "cash crop" would be happy to send them home with a bag or two . . .

Firefighters DO save lives

But they also HAVE lives

And perks are perks . .

This has got to be one of the best!

4. Let's see, here now--
we can't afford twenty grand to bring back some poor wanker's house in N O to livirg condition but we'll borrow some more millions from China to destroy someone's peace of mind, ruin some more lives and put that poor wanker's brother in jail for twenty years.

There's a lot more dopes in gov't than on the west coast.

25. Priorities
Earlier this year an oil spill was discovered in the waters
of the Puget Sound in Washington state. No one knew who was
responsible and eventually a reward of one thousand dollars
was offered by the state for information leading to the arrest
and prosecution of those responsible. Please keep in mind that
the waters of the Puget Sound take thirty years to completely
change out with the tide. This is an extremely delicate
ecosystem. The same day that I heard about the reward on the
morning news I picked up one of the free classified
publications from the local grocery. The front of the paper had
a large bold face ad on it from the Washington State Patrol
offering FIVE thousand dollars reward for information leading
to the arrest and prosecution of indoor marijuana
growers.Priorities indeed.

22. The gov't prefers you buy S. American CIA imported coke...
They need the money for their black ops.

I heard Zapata (GHWBs co.) began the drug importation via its offshore rigs - no customs, searches, etc. They just shipped the drugs back to the mainland on the rig supply ships. GHWB volunteered to do this.

if smoking pot is a metric they use for whether one supports terrorism...pot smokers risk a one way trip to gitmo!

27. let's see bumper crop of poppies in Afghanistan, meth labs
but it's the demon weed I tell ya that's a threat to Amerika!!!!! What a waste of our tax money. Meth and heroin are more debilitating to the person as well as the family and communities; but these clueless ones want to spend money on MJ. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.

28. Don't these people know ONLY allowed to grow & profit from MJ is Govt?
Foolish fools. Just say "no" to Drugs...unless Oliver North, or the Govt is marketing them (over or under the counter).

Just think of the ALL the poppies the Gov't COULD be harvesting (OR supervising the "harvest" of)... in Afghanistan right now.

In Iraq for Oil. In Afghanistan for Poppies. Always profit for Uncle Sam in the process of "bring Democracy" and "freedom" on foreign soil.

33. I support this because of the eviromental aspect...
assuming the money is going to fight growers who destroy national and state parkland and not the casual user and low-level dealer.

"Sequoia Kings Canyon spokesperson Alexandra Picavet thinks the drug debate has kept the problem from getting traction. "People get blinded by the marijuana issue…. We don't want people planting asparagus on the land, either. This is agricultural assault on a national park, no matter what they're growing."

34. Why do you suppose they call pot weed??
Ok let me guess.Could it be because it is a weed???Wow we have to stop people from smoking weeds???Is that because it actually helps you think and figure out things and raises your awareness so the government cant con you anymore???
Next we will have to take our cats off catnip cause it gets them high.
Someone explain to me what is wrong with smoking pot compared to drinking alcohol??Well I havent heard of anyone
getting violent on pot but people actually kill each other
after they drink too much!!!!
I say lets dump lsd in all the drinking water and enlighten the people so they can see how we have all been turned into
sheeples.
Follow the leader, yah right, wake up before it is too late. Our constitution is gone,we have no rights.Take me back to the early 1900 hundreds so I can drink real coke with the coca leaves in it and pass me my flash of laudnum.I feel a case of the vapors coming on.Bring back those fainting
couches so when we have smoked too much opium we can just pass out.
We have devolved so much and no one seems to get it.
Luckily we still have DU and the people on here so we dont all become complete zombies like bush and his family and friends.
