Clinton, Lamont meet to discuss campaign
NEW YORK - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hosted Connecticut Senate candidate Ned Lamont at her Westchester County home Friday morning, discussing campaign strategy and fundraising in an hourlong meeting over coffee, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said.

"It was a great meeting. Senator Clinton thinks Ned Lamont did a fabulous job in Connecticut," Wolfson said, referring to Lamont's stunning upset victory over Sen. Joe Lieberman in the state's Democratic primary.

"They talked about what Mr. Lamont can expect from the George Bush-Karl Rove attack machine," Wolfson said. "She told him Republicans were invested in defeating him."

Lieberman, who lost the Aug. 8 primary to Lamont largely over his outspoken support for the Iraq war and perceived closeness to President Bush, is now running against Lamont as an independent. Polls show the two running neck and neck, with Lieberman slightly ahead.

1. CNN's Wolf Blitzer made the point that no photos were taken
hinting that Hillary was playing it safe, that she didn't want to be associated with being antiwar. We know how wolfie is!

3. Lieberman was a special case. You don't see Hillary styling herself
after Dick Cheney.

11. Let's not get ahead of ourselves
here people. No one forced Hillary into anything. She has done exactly what Hillary needs to do to position herself. If you think that 53% approval of her now was because folks here on the DU were calling her names and saying she could not win caused her to all of a sudden shift her positions, then you do not recall how Bill Clinton whom no one hardly heard of won the nomination and then the Presidency. If Hillary Clinton decides to run for the Presidency, she will win. No if's, ands or buts. She will win....

12. I am personally willing to vote for her if it is her against a Republican
Edited on Sat Aug-26-06 06:40 AM by gorbal
I might prefer another Democrat, but she at least criticizes Bush and his handling of the war. If the election was Lieberman VS Mccain, I would probably give up and vote for a third party.

13. Speaking of getting ahead of oneself. Please take your own advice.
