Judge Nixes Plame Secrecy Bid
Ex-CIA agent wanted home address sealed in leak lawsuit

AUGUST 25--A federal judge yesterday turned down a request from former CIA agent Valerie Plame and her husband that the couple's address be kept secret in court filings in her lawsuit against Bush administration officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney.

But that request was rejected by Judge John Bates, who noted in an order filed yesterday that, "in less than thirty minutes, the Court was able to ascertain plaintiffs's residential address from multiple publicly available sources, including a database of federal government records."

3. He (Judge Bates) also has a collateral duty....
In February 2006, he was appointed by Chief Justice Roberts to serve as a judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

2. a proper ruling under those circumstances
if we want the rule of law to apply again in our country, we need to support decisions we love as well as those which seem unfortunate, but are correct.

4. well, I tried to find their address
and I did find her BIRTH address, and past addresses (from various embassies) but no current PUBLIC home address. So either that judge is being fed this crap or he has access to non-public DB's and is too stupid to know the difference.

9. I don't know if any of these are right:

The judge would have access to the information for comparison, and if the neighbor's address *is* publicly available, it would certainly decide the matter.

Total time invested: < 2 minutes.

7. This guy was Deputy Independent Counsel under Ken Starr
As a District Court Judge, Bates dismissed the GAO's effort to learn with whom the Cheney energy task force conferred.

Using multiple publicly available sources, one can obtain the number to his office. Presumably his home number is unlisted.

8. Publish HIS address!
The Wilson's will be compelled to move. Rotten, dirty, lowdown, murderous, torturing, traitorous, lawless Bush Cartel strikes again.

-------------------

Throw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW! --if you want your country back. Bust the Machines--Vote Absentee this November! --if enough people do it (and many are--it's up to 50% in Los Angeles), the tyrannical reign of Bushite-controlled, TRADE SECRET electronic vote "counting" will be OVER!

Once we restore TRANSPARENT elections, we will have many options in dealing with Bush Cartel judges--placing term limits on them, hounding them with Special Prosecutors, nullifying the 2004 (s)election and all Bush appointments, or whatever we, the majority, need to do to protect ourselves and restore order.
