Bush arrives, meets families of slain troops
KENNEBUNK — President Bush held private and at times emotional meetings Thursday with the families of five Maine service members who died in Iraq, Afghanistan and the September 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

The midday meetings, which lasted a total of about 90 minutes, were held at Sea Road School in Kennebunk. Bush stopped at the elementary school on his way from the Sanford airport to his parents' summer home in Kennebunkport, where he plans to attend a family wedding Saturday. The president's weekend in Maine is expected to be marked by anti-war protests.

Nearly 3,000 U.S. service members have died since the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and although Bush reportedly has met with hundreds of slain troops' families, Thursday's meeting was believed to be his first in Maine.

...

''I said it's time to stop the bleeding,'' said Hildi Halley, whose husband, Army National Guard Capt. Patrick Damon, died June 15 in Afghanistan. ''It's time to swallow our pride and find a solution.''

She said Bush responded by saying ''there was no point in us having a philosophical discussion about the pros and cons of the war.''

3. OMG! Is Bush incapable
of uttering the words, "I'm sorry"? He didn't listen to what she was suggesting!! She wasn't saying it was right or wrong but only that the war needs a solution.......personally, I hope she was alluding to getting out of Iraq.

Even if he has read Camus. You did read Camus this summer didn't you, President Simpleton?

5. I'd like the arrogant little shit to give us a list of those "pros"...
What are the PROS again?
Halliburton profits up 400% last year, is that one?
Howzabout $3.00/gallon gas handing Big Oil MILLION$ every hour in pure profit?

Exactly WHAT THE HELL is it that you think is GOOD about your war, George?
Inquiring minds want to know!

18. The best thing about it to him, truth be told, is that
he's an ocean away from the fighting and dying.

Just like Vietnam. He was gung-ho for that one, too.

6. Well, wonder if she understands what kind of 'man' she met
with? Did she see the vacant expression in his eyes? Unless he gets angry of course, then you see into his soul, and it's pure evil.

He will never swallow his 'pride'. That's the only thing the 'man' has. He has not character, decency, integrity or humanity.

The son of the US ambassador to France. The ambassador, by the way, I didn't realize was married to a Bush cousin. How convenient!

9. I was under the impression
that he has ignored the carnage he is causing. It really surprised me to read that "Bush reportedly has met with hundreds of slain troops' families." Maybe the key word here is "reportedly." Can anyone corroborate this?

13. "We had a lot of just general banter about Scottish terriers..."
Kelley and her husband, Robert, said the 30 minutes passed quickly, and that, thanks to the president's easygoing nature, the conversation drifted.

''We had a lot of just general banter about Scottish terriers and Old Orchard Beach and how it was changing,'' Robert Kelley said.

Looks like they didn't get the same kind of 15 minute long attention that so impressed another man-

''I was impressed that it lasted so long,'' he said. ''It's nice to know that somebody that high up actually appreciates, and can take 15 to 20 minutes out of their schedule, with everything else that's going on in the world, to spend time with a family that was really affected by this.''

I hope these families got some peace from their meetings, but why have people grown to have such low expectations? It's as though they're primed to be ruled rather than governed.

Yes, he grieves for the "loss of life". But going to war was a tough decision and he was elected to lead, after all...BBBRRRRAPPPPP.

26. the depth of evil in bush and his enablers is staggering
imagine how much of a disgusting shithead asshole someone would have to be to look a war widow in the face, caused by his traitorous lies, and tell them there is no point in reflecting on the reasons their spouse died.

simply, absolutely, disgusting.
