Cheney, Rumsfeld to visit Reno ( private VFW convention )
Two high-ranking members of the Bush Administration will speak Monday in Reno at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention.

Vice President Dick Cheney will address the VFW's opening general session in the morning at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld will speak in the evening at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, where he is receiving the VFW's Dwight D. Eisenhower Award.

The events are not open to the public. The Grand Sierra, formerly the Reno Hilton, is headquarters for the VFW's 107th national convention.

Cheney spoke at the VFW's 2002 convention in Nashville, Tenn.

2. Eisenhower must be spinning..
The newly released documentary, "Why We Fight" highlights Eisenhower's warnings of the risks associated with the US turning into a military state. He warns against a neoconic takeover citing the abuse possible by a corporate state at the expense of the American People. Highly recommended viewing.

3. They'll smile warmly and salute
and thank them for sending the military to a pointless war and for cutting veterans benefits.

6. Not All VFW For Draft Evader and AWOL Decider
And they wonder why the VFW and American Legion are melting away. What self-respecting vet would show up, much less honor, the two clowns who are running our great country into the ground? Every time I talk to a young vet, I urge 'em to check out the ACTIONS of bush/cheney - not just their words, but what is being DONE to vet's programs. Our military is being destroyed by this administration, and the VA, being a discretionary program, is constantly being underfunded and robbed by these same greedy repubs. Tax cuts to their rich buds? - Of course. Enough money for VA to take care of the brain injured vets coming back from an illegal war? - Not so much. I despise these hypocrites.

7. You are absolutely right. As a veteran of the first Desert Storm,
my opinion is, "Fuck the VFW."

They supported the swiftboating of John Kerry by these non-serving chickenhawks. I will never forgive them for that.

8. You`re right on the money, badgervan.
Don`t watch what Bush/Cheney say, watch what they do. Big difference.

Why the Veterans of Foreign Wars would want to listen to five-deferment Cheney or his sidekick, AWOL Junior, is beyond me. When members of our military have to do three....four....five tours in Iraq, something is very, very wrong.

My best friend is a Vietnam Vet. He`s self employed and has seen no appreciable increase in his earnings over the last few years. Yet, his appointments at the VA have increased by $50 each and all his medications have quadrupled.

14. Time to get in touch with "real" 'murricans...
Yes, the cold clammy hands on the fibrillating pulse of the "greatest" generation. If they were younger and in better health, not all on cardiac meds, it could be a circle jerk.
