White House Softens Iran Nuclear Response
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2349435&page=1

Pressure From (OLD)Europeans Changed Administration's Tone, Officials Say

While the details of the response have not been made public, Iran said its response offers an opportunity for "serious" talks on its nuclear program.

In a statement Wednesday the State Department promised to review Iran's response but said that it "falls short of the conditions set by the Security Council, which require the full and verifiable suspension of all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities."

The tone of that statement, however, was milder than the Bush administration had envisioned on Tuesday.

U.S. officials tell ABC News the White House had intended to issue a stronger statement rejecting Iran's response and calling for talks on sanctions against Iran to begin quickly, but pressure mounted from European countries overnight to hold off on the strong language and to allow time for countries to carefully consider Iran's response.

Ultimately, U.S. officials say, the United States yielded to pressure from the European countries, namely Britain and France, to issue the milder statement that was released today.

5. Thanks, underpants!
This is a fun bunch, and there are even some folks to the left of me. It can get a little lonely down here in the land of the rednecks. Thanks again.

2. You don't suppose Bush has finally figured out he's bitten off more than
he can chew in the Middle East, do you?

Iraq is a mess, we all know it, and assurances from Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, that wacko Senator Inhofe, General Whoever, or anyone else aren't going to change our minds. We can see for ourselves that it's a mess over there, and we were told the mission was accomplished years ago. So what the hell is going on if it isn't civil war?

And now there's the mess with Israel and Lebanon, and Iran and North Korea flexing their nuclear muscles.

Add to that low approval ratings in this country, and you would think the King would realize his kingdom is dissipating.

Congratulations, George, once again your record for fucking everything up holds true. Everything you touch turns to shit.

By the way, George, since you've now admitted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, why is it we're over there? Threat to America? Iraq was more of a threat than Iran and North Korea? Could it be your incurious mind just didn't know all the facts, or was this just a big scam on the American people so you could even the score between Saddam and your Daddy?
