NU (Northwestern University) trio challenge 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy
They weren't asked, but they told.

Three Northwestern University undergrads tried to enlist in the Army Reserve in Chicago Tuesday but were turned away when they told a recruiter they were gay and had no intention of hiding it.

The action, done with cameras rolling and reporters present, was part of a nationwide effort to get Congress to overturn the military's 13-year-old "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that bars open homosexuality in the armed forces.

Activists in 30 cities have told or plan to tell recruiters they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered while trying to enlist -- and then publicize their rejections. The campaign titled "Right to Serve" is being led by the Virginia-based gay rights group Soulforce.

1. Couldn't bisexual people just be part-time reservists?
They could just take a leave of absence every time they felt their Kinsey Score leaning toward gay.

:sarcasm:
