Allen memo to supporters lashes media for Senator's woes

Sen. George Allen's campaign manager sent a memo to Republican leaders decrying a media "feeding frenzy" over remarks Allen made about his Democratic foe's aide who is of Indian descent "that did not warrant coverage in the first place."

Dick Wadhams' letter, sent Saturday with the subject line "Notes on a tough week," accuses Democrats of trying to "play the race card" by fanning national coverage of Allen's reference to S.R. Sidarth as "Macaca" at an Aug. 11 rally. Macaca is a genus of monkeys including macaques. The name also could be spelled Makaka, which is a city in South Africa.

"...The Webb campaign and the news media seeming (sic) worked hand-in-hand to create national news over something that did not warrant coverage in the first place," Wadhams wrote of the quip that outraged Democrats and some minority groups as the GOP did damage-control.

Webb's campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said that by dismissing the seriousness of the remarks, Allen's campaign is hardly remorseful.

3. Also following the now-traditional Allen thumb-fingeredness . . .
Since this story was beginning to die, and now he (or at least his campaign) have whipped it up again. I hope Webb is aware of the old adage, "when your opponent is set on committing suicide, don't get in his way."

6. From page 129, play #347 from the KKKarl Rove book of Denial,
Rebuttal and Distraction. ISBN 666-666-666.

When the media records you calling people names at one of your own public speaking events, begin by making sure that the public understands that you are sorry that they misunderstood what you said. Make sure that they understand that you truly regret their inability to comprehend your advanced use of language.

Let this sink in for a day or two.

Now get after the press for making a big deal out of peoples inability to understand you. Hell - it is not their fault that they cannot understand what you meant. The press has no business rubbing their noses in it. Those damn reporters have no class at all.

Start denying outright that you said what you said. The people who were upset have started to forget. The people who gave you a pass are now getting pissed at the press and the people who were offended. Instigate some squabbling as a distraction.

After a week or so start railing on the press about how they are wasting their time. Tell them nothing of note happened and that they are a bunch of squealing hyenas. Threaten legal action and bodily harm.

7. Always blame the media for any problem.
Media is always a great whipping boy. Never, never admit an error or apologize.
And don't forget who owns the media?

8. Nice that this story is sticking around
I think that the new poll numbers (virtual dead heat) have felix and co. running scared. This dude must go and I and a lot of other NOVA voters intend to facilitate that happening on election day. This victory might mean Democratic control of the Senate.

11. Well if Allen would run a comb through his mohawk and quit acting like

12. Wadhams acts like this is the 1st time Allen's ever
had to apologize for a racist remark. It isn't. Back in 1970 he had to apologize over the PA system at Palos Verdes (CA) High School after he scrawled "Die Whitey" "Fuck Whitey" on the school walls with spraypaint to make it look like the work of black students from a rival school the week of a basketball play-off game. His motive was to fuel racial tension and perhaps provoke a riot.

That wasn't the fault of the liberal media or anybody else. It was Allen's racism coming to the fore - just as it did again last week. Allen has a problem with race and has for over 35 years. About fucking time he was called on it.

14. "Play the race card?" The race card is the GOP's ace in the hole
They are always the first to "play the race card." Their base expects it.

What might work well in VA is to start calling Allen a "carpetbagger" who doesn't represent the values of a true Virginian. It gives VA a reason to turn against him.
