Grisly video captures Saddam lawyer's murder

<snip>

The Age has acquired what appears to be part of one of the video recordings, which are being shown within a tight Shiite circle in the Iraqi capital.

...

Sources in Sadr City, a Shiite stronghold in Baghdad, say Mr Obaidi's execution was the work of a ruthless new Shiite warlord who emerged about three months ago to conduct his own missions of death against Sunnis across greater Baghdad.

A stocky and bearded one-time fishmonger who walks with a pronounced limp, he is said to have taken as an assumed name "Abu Dereh" — meaning "father of the shield" or "protective father".

...

A voice said to be that of Abu Dereh is heard from a vehicle-mounted loudspeaker: "This is a criminal. He is worse than Saddam Hussein because he defends the man who killed Iraqis. This is the destiny of a traitor."

...

As Mr Obaidi slumps, he is caught by the guards and dumped from the back of the utility. Several produce their own weapons and, amid cheers from bystanders, they fire a volley of shots into the lawyer's body.

Wait a second. Stocky and bearded? Hold on, hold on!

HE'S BACK! It is the ONE LEGGED BOOGEYMAN! HE'S BACK! HEAD FOR THE HILLS!

Zarqawi has come back as Abu Dereh!

I knew our psyops folks could not leave him just dead like that.

4. Once we get out of Iraq
I hope we lock up the borders and leave these people to destroy themselves.

This is a sick culture and society, beyond redemption or repair. Let them heal themselves or destroy each other.

I'm sorry, but I don't care and I don't feel sympathy for them. They only end up destroying anyone who tries to help them.

5. Their beefs with each other
have been going on for hundreds of years. I don't really care about them either.
All I care about is the safety of our troops.

6. I'd hardly say the US was trying to "help" them!
It wasn't exactly a humanitarian mission.

9. Well. I at least like to believe
that the troops (NOT Chimpy and Rummy, et al) are trying to make the best of the situation when they can. On the other hand, they might be under orders to 'help' as little as possible.

(Sarcasm Alert)" Can't spoil them there Iraqis we're tryin' to control. "
