Israel suspends review of Lebanon war
By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer

JERUSALEM - Israel's Defense Ministry has suspended a review of the military's performance during the war against Hezbollah, awaiting a government decision on whether to order a broader inquiry, officials said Tuesday.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is under growing public pressure to approve an independent investigation, with the power to dismiss top officials. Some reserve soldiers and bereaved parents have already demanded that Olmert and other wartime leaders step down.

A senior Labor Party legislator and member of the ruling coalition said Tuesday such an investigation was inevitable."I think that in this war, there were many blunders, from the decision-making process at the highest levels of government, to the fighting itself, and all these things need to be investigated," said legislator Danny Yatom.

The war, launched just hours after Hezbollah guerrillas killed three Israeli soldiers and captured two in a cross-border raid July 12, enjoyed broad public support at the outset, but lost favor after Olmert accepted a U.N.-brokered truce without crushing Hezbollah or winning the captives' release.

2. Somebody needs to suspend Olmert.
He and Bush seem to have graduated from the same University of Piss-poor Leadership.

4. NeoCon-es-que move. That administration has fucking issues.
At least the Israeli people won't put up with that shit like we do. They'll straighten those fuckers out. We on the other hand voted our idiots into a second term AFTER proof they lied and fucked up.

It is beautiful to me that the Israeli people are strong enough to question their ineffective, incompetent government and military higher ups for fucking up the war, under supporting and outfitting troops and unattainable goals based on conventional warmonger bullshit.

I'm sure they also felt duped because they believed the bullshit and thought they'd win against terrorist in a conventional war. Unfortunately they believed in the face of proof with Iraq and Afghanistan that conventional war doesn't work.

6. Somebody check Sen. Pat Roberts' phone logs!
I'll bet he made a call to instruct them on just how to delay investigations for partisan political purposes! :)

7. Suspending The Review Because They Can't Let It Come Out That.....
*CO was in on the planning and backed Israel so as to goad Iran or Syria into the fray. I still believe the whole intent of this conflict was to draw Iran and Syria in so that the U.S../*CO had an excuse to continue its Neocon dream. The talking points were out there early from the likes of Newt on MTP with his WWIII comments. That is what they wanted. They didn't anticipate the strength of Hezbollah nor that Syria and Iran would practice restraint and not be drawn into this. *CO wanted all this to happen before the Nov '06 elections - to secure their hold over the Legislative Branch of our government.

Again *CO failed (Thank God)in their planning. They plain and simple got it wrong again - which has become a trademark of theirs.

Ohmert's government will go down in flames for this and *CO will skate again only to have a second chance down line.

Let's just hope that *Co won't do anything stupid in the next 87 days.
