Attorney: in Corker suit politics not involved
By John Rodgers, jrodgers@nashvillecitypaper.com
August 22, 2006

A Democratic Nashville attorney said Monday that politics has nothing to do with a lawsuit concerning a Chattanooga land deal and Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bob Corker - even though the suit’s revving up just as the campaign hits full swing.

Joe Prochaska, as attorney for the Tennessee Environmental Council and a Chattanooga citizens group, is suing the “Corker defendants” and the City of Chattanooga concerning a land deal that netted a Corker-owned company $4.66 million.

Corker was mayor at the time of the sale, and final approval went through during his term, Prochaska said.

“This is not about Bob Corker and a conservation easement … this is pure partisan politics,” Mitchell said of the “liberals” trying to keep Corker’s opponent, Congressman Harold Ford Jr., in Washington.

1. Ya know, sometimes a crooked land deal is just a crooked land deal.
It's always icing on the cake if the timing works out.

2. Now think about how fast our country would straighten-up, if the ACLU
took on these kinds of land deal lawsuits.

I can only dream.

3. I wonder what Corker would sell off if he was elected to the Senate?
I bet he's looking at sell off the Great Smokie National Forest. Corker could make billions.
