McCain Says No Date Should Be Set For Troops To Leave Iraq
Sen. John McCain, setting the stage for a possible run for president in 2008, campaigned on Monday for fellow Republican Sen. Mike DeWine, who is facing a tough challenge from a Democrat critical of the Iraq war backed by McCain and DeWine.

McCain said it would be wrong to set a date for troops to be withdrawn from Iraq.

"The chaos that would ensue would have direct implications for our national security," McCain said.

1. As opposed to the chaos going on now
That's so great for our national security!!!

:sarcasm:

Is it just me or has McCain been seeming almost senile/not with it lately?

2. I've always maintained that McCain hurt his head going thru the canopy.
Or maybe it was the years in the Hanoi Hilton. I'm as sorry as I can be that John McCain got shot down (I managed to NOT get shot down), but he needs to be put out to pasture.

President McCain? Please God, no!

11. McCain is too old to be president
He'll be older than Reagan was when he ran in 1980.

support a mandatory military draft or two-year term of equivalent civilian service?

13. Of course he would, that is the "official "Republican line.
He wants to look strong and resolute by staying the course, Ultimately though, he knows this is not the right course and that the Republicans are wrong to continue down an unproductive and dangerous path.

14. We don't need to set a date, just start bringing them home now.
Move the troops to a safe place outside of Iraq and then bring them home. Redeploy then home.

15. "The chaos that would"
"The chaos that would ensue would have direct implications for our national security..."

Yeah... McCain.

Just like the chaos that ensued after the troops left Vietnam had direct implications for our national security...

Sure... :sarcasm:

(And what R those "direct implications" exactly?)

16. Fools.
They don't get it.

This is a dependent relationship at best and Iraqis are going to balk at doing the dirty work and heavy lifting as long as the U.S. fools are willing to stay and do it for them.

It's even worse when the people who should be stepping up to the plate are resigned to the profound belief that things will happen "if Allah is willing." Ha!

18. Invading had "direct implications for our national security"
but let's not discuss that...we need to just move on and forget that America invaded a country for lies.

It's so much easier and safer that way....
