Poll: Slight rise, but Bush approval ratings still weak

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's job approval ratings remain anemic among Americans, with disapproval exceeding approval 57 percent to 42 percent, according to a poll released Monday.

Bush's approval rating rose 2 percent from a poll conducted in early August -- and up 5 percent from mid-June. The poll of 1,033 Americans carried out August 18-20 for CNN by Opinion Research has a plus-or-minus 3-point sampling error.

But the results were hardly uniformly positive for the president. Fewer than half of respondents (44 percent) said they believe Bush is honest and trustworthy, with 54 percent saying they do not believe he is. And just 41 percent said they agree with the president on issues, compared to 57 percent who disagree.

4. Wait a minute - his honesty was all he had several years ago
Honesty and trustworthyness was his ace in the hole. If that (and his war support) are gone then his polls should reflect in the 20s or even in the teens. How is this happening. Are the polls completely skewed? Is there any honest polls out there? If he manages to keep it falsly appearing that he remains in the 40s then they just might keep power in Nov.

5. This poll is bullshit!
No other poll has him this high. A solid 60% of Americans disapprove of him!

8. Media propaganda is starting in order to make it as close to 50% as
possible. This is part of the election-stealing cycle. Their GOP controlled media and pollsters will continuously produce polls like this so that when all the tricks are used to steal votes, the GOP wins are "plausible"

11. War Support
Only 35% of people approve the war? That's better than I would have hoped for.

12. When your disapproval hits 50%
Shouldn't the poll then be called a Disapproval rating?

The other interesting thing in this CNN poll is that although his approval went up a few points the disapproval rating remained at 57%, same as their last poll. It isn't that people were more fond of the Chimp, a few undecideds last time decided to vote for him in this poll.

Big deal. He is a screw up.

and the most amazing thing happened in Albertson's. The checker told me she was a life long democrat while her parents had been life long repubs. Last month her REGISTERED as democrats. My mother who was with me said this is a very common story. So any bump they have is only in their minds. But as one bumper sticker says..."The Lies, The Spying, The War--Impeach"

edited for typo
