Iran Denies Inspectors Access to Site

VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Iran has turned away U.N. inspectors wanting to examine its underground nuclear site in an apparent violation of the Nonproliferation Treaty, diplomats and U.N. officials said Monday.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the confidentiality of the information, told The Associated Press that Iran's unprecedented refusal to allow access to the facility at Natanz could seriously hamper international efforts to ensure that Tehran is not trying to make nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, Iran's supreme leader said Tehran will pursue nuclear technology despite a U.N. Security Council deadline to suspend uranium enrichment by the end of the month or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has made its own decision and in the nuclear case, God willing, with patience and power, will continue its path," said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to state television.

Wikipedia is probably the biggest collection of half-truths, hearsay, and propaganda on the internet. Anyone can post articles on there, and many times you'll find false information on there.

Wikipedia might be a good place to start, but always try to corroborate whatever you find there.

VIENNA, Austria -- Iran severely restricted access to a suspect military site late last year and has refused a new request by the U.N. nuclear monitoring agency to revisit the facility, a senior agency official said Tuesday.

Pierre Goldschmidt, a deputy secretary general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, also told the IAEA board that Iran continues to build a heavy water reactor in the city of Arak that can produce plutonium, despite agency requests to cease construction on the facility.

Iranians need only look to Iraq and what happened there...the UN inspection teams merely got caught up in the bullpit of western politics.

If the teams find nothing like they did in Iraq, the US and it's enablers simply ignore them...if they find some evidence, then the UN inspection teams become a 'hero' to US/Israel and it's propaganda machine...

Iranians are smart...letting the inspection teams into Iran and NOT Israel, would simply be seen as 'weakness' in their government and region, conceeding to racist Zionism and US projection of power...it's legitimate for any nation to oppose their enemies.

I'd prefer if no one had nukes (or chemical weapons, or guns, etc.), but the US wasn't exactly real supportive of the UN when they wanted to check out Iraq. Iran's just refusing access to their own country and for different reasons, but both times are ignoring the UN.
