Terror Threat `Never Greater', German Government Says (Update2)

Aug. 21 (Bloomberg) -- The threat of a terrorist attack in Germany has never been greater, government ministers warned, as a Lebanese student was arrested on suspicion of having planted a bomb on a regional train intended to kill large numbers of people.

The arrest on Aug. 19 in the northern city of Kiel, about 40 miles from the Danish border, followed an investigation into two suitcases containing bombs found on regional trains on July 31 which didn't go off due to a ``technical defect,'' the Federal Prosecutor's Office said yesterday.

Police on Aug. 18 released surveillance videos of two men, each carrying a suitcase at Cologne train station before boarding trains from Aachen to Hamm and from Moenchengladbach to Koblenz, in western Germany. Both suitcases contained a propane gas bottle with detonator.

``Threats to public security in Germany have become more serious,'' Deputy Interior Minister August Hanning said today on ARD television. ``The threat has never been greater,'' Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble told ZDF television Aug. 19.

or if Angela's been reading too many plays out of the Bu$h/Chainknee "Killing Off Democracy for Dummies" instruction manual? (God, why am I so cynical these days?)

Listen up you terra'rists!!! I came over here to get AWAY from this kind of shiite, could you just knock it the fuck off? I will say is that people in Germany don't seem to be 'freaking out' over this incident.

Figure the number is up for one of us: it's either going to be France, Germany or Italy next.

4. Around the world terrorists appear to be racing to beat the Nov. deadline
Suddenly there seems to be an even greater urgency to blow something up. Whether you believe BushCo actually has a hand in it ( :tinfoilhat: ) or not isn't the issue. Rather, has BushCo instigated this rise in the threat with his cowboy foriegn policies and blundering crusade across the Middle East? Any way you look at it, one thing is abundantly clear...Bush has not made America safer. To the contrary, five years after the 'attack' on the WTC, we're being told the threat has never been greater.

This is a result of the rubber-stampers in Congress capitulating to the war-mongering, hate- and fear-filled GOP extremists in Congress and the handful of Democratic Party enablers who always seem to be there to codify Mr. Bush's failed ideas. All of them must go. I could probably count on my fingers the number of our "representatives" who deserve to remain in office.

Oh...this was about Germany, wasn't it? Fuck it. Clip this rant and save it for the next BushCo terra story! ;)

7. "even greater urgency"
How do you know this...I can't separate out the fact from fiction.

I agree there seems to be an increase in the urgency of the REPORTING of plots which seem to have few details and I agree there has been an increase in western rhetoric concerning 'threats' and the need to project even more military might to solve the problem.

But your thesis "Bush has not made America safer" is one of Bush's failed 'ideas'...so just curious, which 'idea' would the US have to use to justify occupying foreign countries in the ME to secure those oil and gas resources and not create conditions of retaliation?

I agree...once you strip away the 'they be terrorists' shit...you really don't have an ideological argument that would justify 'conquest'?

6. Well, then, "Mission Accomplished" as Bunny-pants decreed years ago
.
.
.

There is only one reason that the rest of the World doesn't unite and smack the USA into the ocean

USA has mega-nukes -

And the world knows they will not hesitate to annihilate any country that pushes too hard against their PNAC agenda -

Japan knows - -

HIroshima and Nagasaki were PLANNED for a nuclear "test"

They were certainly never what one would call a military threat

The USA wanted to scare the shit out of the world

They succeeded

But you can only beat the peasants for so long, and then they will revolt.

And that is now

USA in a decade or so from now will be emasculated, one way or another

Count on it

Bullies only get tolerated for so long

And the USA's time is up
