Israeli jets fly over Lebanon after truce strained

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Israeli warplanes flew reconnaissance missions over Lebanon
on Sunday, a day after an Israeli commando raid deep into the country strained
a U.N.-backed truce that ended Israel's 34-day war with Hizbollah.

Witnesses and Lebanese security sources said high-altitude flights covered
virtually all of the country, from its volatile south to close to the border
with Syria in the north and east.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Saturday's raid on a Hizbollah stronghold
deep in Lebanon had violated the truce that went into effect on August 14.

they are again breakin the truce.

IF the war starts back up. The Israelie government will be to blame. The Israelie people should tell their government to stand the fuck down.

The resolution lets them do pre-emptive military operations or we would not have let the UN make it.

I could be wrong, but I do not think the resolution does this.

"Calls for a full cessation of hostilities based upon, in particular, the immediate cessation by Hizbollah of all attacks and the immediate cessation by Israel of all offensive military operations;"

I think that is pretty clear and that Israel's attack yesterday was a blatant violation and that military overflights are clearly also violations. Israel does not appear to respect the terms of the agreement and is not complying. On the other hand I am sure that Hezbollah will continue to ignore the requirements for compliance with 1559 and not disarm.

8. Right, but they can say it was not offensive. Even if they bomb

They can just say they heard that there were Lebanese people who were planning to fight back, or they can say somebody shot a rocket or a gun or even threw a rock or said something to one of them or they don't really have to say anything because they don't have to obey those resolutions. I am sorry I don't have a link I saw this list somewhere of like I don't know how many maybe 80? of them that they just decided not to obey. Those resolutions are really for countries we don't like anyway, those countries do have to obey them or they will be in big trouble but we have a special relationship with Israel and unconditional support etc.

The resolution on the other hand is quite clear. That is my point. Israel will of course claim that ongoing offensive operations are 'self defense', just as our vile leaders claim that our acts of aggression are self defense. Always the bullies are just defending themselves, never are they the aggressors.

The UN, if it is going to attempt any level of objectivity here is going to have to publicly condemn the gross violations of the ceasefire by Israel that occurred this weekend.

Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel has a right to defend itself. I've never thought about that statement at all, but I can repeat it robotically. Israel has a right to defend itself.

in direct violation of the recent ceasefire. Offense is not defense. The right of self defense does not include Bush-doctrine pre-emptive aggression.

It's as important as other aspects for a long-term ceasefire.

Not a trivial part of the agreement, but one that's as ignored as other sections. What's important depends upon where you're sitting. But partial enforcement isn't going to yield anything like peace.

administration. They are equally corrupt. They are equally a danger to the people on this planet. And they are equal credibility wise. And what makes it even better, the bush** administration supplies them with their armaments.

Both are immoral and reprehensible.
