Innocent children jailed (in Iraq), U.S. official says
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 06:11 PM by deadparrot
Children who have never been charged with a crime are being held in juvenile prisons in Iraq, a State Department official stated in a report he posted on the Internet this week.

Some of the children are in the detention centers simply because there is no one to pick them up and take them home, said Marshall Adame, an official with the National Coordination Team based out of Camp Victory in Iraq.

"These are not hardened criminals or terrorists," said Mr. Adame in a personal detailed report he published on an Internet log.

He added that there had been reports of "physical and other abuse" in the detention centers but that the U.S.-led coalition considered the issue "not our urgent business."

8. Chaos is on the march, is more like it!
Do you ever sit and ponder the absolute
chaos that the neocons have wrought upon this
planet over the last five years?

I do and it scares the hell out of me.

It is overwhelming to think about and
I see no end in sight-
I feel sick thinking about it actually.

I feel this terrible fear in the deepest part of
my soul when I think about the next
twenty years of living through the blowback
these madmen are creating for us.

I really does frighten me.
I know I am not alone with these feelings,
and that helps.

23. There's a special place in hell for such people...
It's being prepared now, even as we type.
Bush and all of his so called "x-tain" followers are going there.
Make no mistake about that.
Not since Stalin, Hitler and Vietnam has such pain and suffering been
inflicted on so many innocent people.
God damn the kkkabal to hell.

21. Ha-ha!! I wrote a song called "Soldier On"
PM me with your address and I'll send you a recording of it.
I have Vietnam vet friends who tell me they
listen to it when they are down in the dumps and it
raises their spirits considerably!
Not to be egotisitcal or anything, but I have
to admit, listening to it makes me feel better too...
someone compared it to the "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" song-
Remember that one?
I must say, I considered that a real compliment as a writer.
Music and art are the ONLY thngs getting me through the days we are living in.

19. More terrifying -- the message of Katrina is that we are all on our
own in facing that blowback. We are witnessing the decline and fall of the American Empire. Sit back and relax -- because nothing else you do will make a damned bit of difference (besides putting BFEE on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity).

22. Ya got that straight CunW!!!
We are SO on our own when the blowback
hits trhe fan, and it's coming for sure.
Keep shopping, eh?

I must tell you though that I am seeing LESS and LESS
of the happy shiney Bush/Cheney stickers and more and more
of the IMPEACH ones.
Saw one today that I REALLY wish I had-
"W...worst president ever.." it looked like a Bush sticker with the
flag behind it and all, but had the Helen Thomas quote instead.
Bwahahahha

And how!

6. What ever makes you say that?
What? The world hates us?
Imagine that, eh?
:sarcasm:

We are ruined.
We will pay for this fucked up administration
for the rest of our lives.

When ever we travel to other countries,
people, although polite to our faces,
will silently wonder with disgust
how we allowed our government to
perpetuate such brutal chaos on
innocent people.

I think I will go find a cave to live in now.
It's just too shameful to be associated
with America these days...

7. I will not defend this terrible practice but years ago when I was
working with Amnesty International it was not unusual for children to go to jail with their mothers because there was no one else to care for them. My guess is that nothing has changed in that area. What has changed it that the *ss administration is sometimes using these children to force their parents to do what they do not want to do.

9. You can watch a series of videos which explain a nice time-line of
...events and turning points for Iraq from its beginnings in early 20th century right through to the current situation there and why America is a Sammy-come-lately.

12. It's time to be even-handed about things:
Don't leave the children in detention centers. Send them to Abu Ghraib. Send them to Gitmo. Render them to Eastern Europe for torture. Why treat some of the innocent differently from others?

13. The security of the civilian population is the RESPONSIBILITY...
..of the "Occupation Forces".

Oversight of the "Occupation Forces" is the responsibility of the CONGRESS.

Oversight of the CONGRESS is the responsibility of the AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

20. These are not criminals or terrorists said Mr. Adame
To which gratuitous added, "Yet." Yeah, endless detention, physical abuse, and all that other stuff should have these juvenile prisons cranking out Rhodes Scholars in no time at all. I wonder how "urgent" this business would be for Mr. Adame if it was one of his kids in the slammer?
