Afghan clashes 'leave five dead'
Map of Afghanistan showing Uruzgan and Kunar
At least four foreign soldiers and an Afghan soldier have been killed in two separate incidents in Afghanistan.

Three soldiers with US-led forces died in clashes in the volatile eastern region of Kunar, a spokesman said.

A Nato soldier and an Afghan soldier were killed in a gun battle with Taleban fighters in southern Uruzgan province, an official said.

Militants have recently stepped up their insurgency against government and foreign forces in the south and east.

2. I've read that the Taliban are wanting to talk. I've read that Afgani
fighters are grouping up outside of Karbala. Now this.

What's going on? Any ideas? Who's in control? (I know it ain't the US and NATO). Is the the warlords? The Taliban?

This whole 'war' is a fiasco. And I don't have the faintest idea who's coming out on top. Except for the poppy farmers. They're doing great.

3. The article at the link now says "Four US troops die in Afghanistan"
Apparently the NATO soldier was American.

Another US soldier and an Afghan soldier were killed in a gun battle
with Taleban fighters in southern Uruzgan province, an official said.
