British airliner diverted over suspected bomb
Plane bound for Egypt makes emergency landing in Italy

ROME - A British passenger plane bound for Egypt landed at a southern Italian airport after the pilot reported that a bomb was suspected to be on board, Italian aviation officials said on Friday.

Passengers aboard a Boeing 767 operated by British low-cost airline Excel were evacuated after the aircraft was diverted to the southern Italian city of Brindisi, the airport’s fire brigade said.

Italy's Air Force said it sent an F-16 to intercept the plane before it landed.

Italian anti-terrorist police were on the scene and all passengers were reported safe, fire and police officials told Reuters.

7. Even my repub brother said after the terror talk fell by the way side

after '04 elections, that he would agree if this happens again in '06, that they are using this politically. I will be speaking with him after Nov. '06... no doubt in my mind, it'll drop off then too. This is ludicrous.
