Bush: critics back 'cut and run' strategy
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/bush

<snip>

"Leaving before we complete our mission would create a terrorist state in the heart of the Middle East, a country with huge oil reserves that the terrorist network would be willing to use to extract economic pain from those of us who believe in freedom," Bush said Wednesday.

"If we leave before the mission is complete, if we withdraw, the enemy will follow us home," he said.

Even though he spoke at a political event, Bush kept the criticism of his opponents gentle, and left partisan politics out of it. His critics are mostly Democrats who contend he has not outlined a plan for success in Iraq. They are increasingly supportive of a timetable for bringing troops home.

"There are some good people in our country who believe we should cut and run," the president said at a fundraiser for former Pittsburgh Steelers star Lynn Swann, who is carrying GOP hopes for an upset over Pennsylvania's Democratic governor, Ed Rendell. "They're not bad people when they say that. They're decent people. I just happen to believe they're wrong."

At the fundraiser, Bush raised an estimated $650,000 in much-needed cash for Swann, who trails Rendell in fundraising and the polls.

21. Oh ho..."ECONOMIC" pain he says.
If that's the definition of terrorism...it don't need to follow us; it's already home.

3. And how will we know the "mission is completed"?
When everyone there is dead?

I guess "completed" means something different from "accomplished", incidentally.

4. Hey, junior, when you were blowing up frogs as a kid,
when did you finally stop? When someone came along and stopped you or when there were just no more frogs left? We believe it is our job to legally stop you before there are no more soldiers left. It's not called cut and run. It's called...sanity.

6. Bush is Chicken Little 2006...
Instead of "the sky is falling," the cry is now "cut and run." "Cut and run" (and its sibling "retreat and defeat") worked to some extent last year, but the effect wears off the more it's repeated. As with the proverbial fowl, the alarm has been repeated so often and for so long that it will eventually lose its ability to be taken seriously. In fact, I would argue that it's already happened.

"For the U.S. to get involved militarily in determining the outcome of the struggle over who's going to govern in Iraq strikes me as a classic definition of a quagmire." ~Dick Cheney, 1991

We won the war 3 years ago, this is all war profiteering at this point. We need to accomplish other missions.

14. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but...
Doesn't the Maliki (spelling?) government also want us to set a date for withdrawl? I'm pretty sure this is the case. It isn't just "critics," it's the very democratic government that we're supposedly there to build. How come that's rarely mentioned?

17. Bush "Cut and Ran" from Saudi Arabia when he closed
The American base there in 2003 after his Mission accomplished speech.
Osama's main reason for war against America was our presence in the Muslim holy land and demanded America get out.

Bush kissed Osama's ass and gave up the base, 10,000 troops left Saudi Arabia at osama's demand.

Now WHO is cutting and running?

18. How should the US get out of Iraq?
Right now the country is in disarray, and quite possibly heading towards a civil war. If they leave now, they'll be accused of taking out Saddam and leaving the country worse off than it was. If they stay, it will likely not improve.

What should they do?
