'City Slickers' actor Bruno Kirby dies
Bruno Kirby, a veteran character actor who costarred in "When Harry Met Sally," "City Slickers" and many other films, has died at age 57, his wife said Tuesday.

Kirby died Monday in Los Angeles from complications related to leukemia, according to a statement from his wife, Lynn Sellers. He had recently been diagnosed with the disease.

"We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support we have received from Bruno's fans and colleagues who have admired and respected his work over the past 30 years," his wife said. "Bruno's spirit will continue to live on not only in his rich body of film and television work but also through the lives of individuals he has touched throughout his life."

A lot of people hated him as the young Clemenza in Godfather II but I thought he did a good job. RIP.

10. I thought he was great as the young Clemenza--liked him in a number of
things, The Freshman and an episode of Fallen Angels. A great character actor. 57 is young to die. Be at peace, Mr. Kirby.

4. Very, very sad.
His career seemed to be linked to Billy Crystal's. I've heard the two were great friends until a falling out in the early nineties.

RIP, Bruno.

7. "Good Morning Vietnam"
was my favorite of his movies. Playing his goofy polka records instead of Motown on Armed Forces Radio.

9. Did you know...
He performed his part in "The Godfather Part II" entirely in Italian. And he was only in his 20s.

Truly sad. A very talented actor and a sudden, unexpected death.

17. The Freshman . . .
I think of it as Ferris Bueller Goes to Film School.

Kirby was wonderful in that movie and so was Brando. I still lol during the escaped Komodo dragon scene.

Arrivaderci, Bruno.

18. My son and his were born about the same time
and were in the same hospital. His son was a preemie as was mine. His son had grown enough to go home, but he had what was called a poor suck, so they didn't want him to leave just yet, as he would have to be fed every 2 hours, even through the night. It would take the baby an hour just to get down 2 ounces of formula. Bruno would come in and sing to his son. Bruno finally convinced the doctors to let him bring his son home. He and his wife, with supporting grand parents, fed that baby every 2 hours, and within a week or so had a much improved suck. I always remembered his devotion to his son, with such warmth. I am so sad today, that his family will have to do without him.

24. Rest in Peace Bruno
The company I used to work for did the sound editing for "The Freshman" and Bruno came in one day to do some dialogue recording. I didn't get to talk to him, but he seemed really nice to everyone.

An outstanding actor all around. He will be missed.
