NYC to Release 911 Calls From Sept. 11
By AMY WESTFELDT
Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK (AP) -- The city planned Wednesday to release hours of emergency calls from Sept. 11, 2001, after Fire Department officials said they had discovered hundreds of internal recordings made by firefighters who went to rescue people from the burning twin towers.

The department offered no explanation Tuesday why the recordings had not been released previously, saying it would make a statement later. Attorneys involved in the case said they were told that well over 1,000 new calls would be released, although city officials declined to confirm that Tuesday afternoon.

The New York Times and families of Sept. 11 victims had sued the city for access to firefighters' oral histories and 911 calls made from and around the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.

1. call me a cynic...
...but it seems oddly fortuitous that some new 9/11 material might appear just in time to wallow in before the upcoming elections. I'm just sayin'.

2. Well, there would be something else to be cynical about
if they were released earlier, or later.

I'm not too comfortable with attributing anything sinister about the timing.
It is just what it is.

I heard one 9-11 call last week which had a guy on the upper levels of one of the towers talking. At the very end of the call, the tower collapsed. His last utterance was damn scary. I don't blame anybody for not wanting to release these calls.

8. I'm sure
they've been well-edited to make sure people feel as much fear and horror as possible...maybe even a little clip at the end reminding people how George Bush saved them after 9/11...

Again, this is material released from the government. Be wary.

Bush to NYPD on 9/11: "D'oh"

5. And the "answer" of the (supposedly) dedicated, hard-werkin' ...
"grown up" in the WH, on that infamous day was:

"All right. You've covered your ass, now."

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/6/21/162612/616

And got away fishin'

Also dared not to ask one single question when warned about the expected devastation of a big city and the entire Gulf States region!!

And got away to eat cake and (fakin' to) play guitar. :grr:

How many thousands more dead corpses b4 he's thrown in his cell?

10. Did commander AWOL really say that about the August 6 PDB?
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 11:33 AM by SpiralHawk
If so it lowers my already bottom-feeding opinion of him. He's not only lazy and careless with American security and lives, he is also deeply, perversely cynical. Maybe that's what happens when you grow up a Connecticut preppy yankee cheerleader deserter, and then pretend to the world you are a swaggering Texas war hero.

I would imagine those phony circumstances would tend to TWIST a man's soul.

13. Not cute. Very ugly and cynical. And it cost 3,000 American lives on 9/11

Senor Bush, go to the corner and hang your head in shame. You have disgraced yourself and the United States of America.

And a Sincere SALUTE of admiration to the men and women of the Police and Fire Depts. who actually responded to 9/11, even while their putative commander was AWOL again.

these firemen? Thanks.

Firefighter Louie Cacchioli was called to testify privately , but walked out on several members of the committee before they finished, feeling like he was being interrogated and cross-examined rather than simply allowed to tell the truth about what occurred in the north tower on 9/11. "My story was never mentioned in the final report and I felt like I was being put on trial in a court room," said Cacchioli. "I finally walked out. They were trying to twist my words and make the story fit only what they wanted to hear. All I wanted to do was tell the truth and when they wouldn't let me do that, I walked out. ... It was a disgrace to everyone, the victims and the family members who lost loved ones. I don't agree with the 9/11 Commission. The whole experience was terrible." Arctic Beacon

14. Yes, folks, it's that time again...
Time to rub everyone's face in the pain and suffering that was 9/11 and remind them that a vote for anyone other than a republican is a vote for the terrorists.
