Israel: We did not plan war with US

Israel's bombing of Lebanon over the past month was not merely a response to the unprovoked attack by Hizbullah on July 12 but a planned operation coordinated ahead of time with the Bush administration - this, at least, according to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh, in an article published in this week's The New Yorker magazine.

Hersh wrote that Israeli officials "visited Washington separately to get a green light for the bombing," and that the IAF bombing offensive could "serve as a prelude to a potential American preemptive attack to destroy Iran's nuclear installations, some of which are also buried deep underground."

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev expressed outrage at the allegations.

"The whole idea that the Israeli campaign in Lebanon was a premeditated military operation that we chose to initiate in coordination with others is simply not true," he said. "We were attacked. We had no interest in the escalation of violence in the North. The escalation was forced upon us by a premeditated, deliberate and unprovoked act of aggression of Hizbullah.

"They succeeded in having tactical surprise. They killed some of our soldiers and took two as hostages. Anyone who looks at those events can clearly witness that Israel was responding to an act of aggression, the timing of which was chosen by Hizbullah."

4. LOL, me too!
His statements turn out to be true ala Abu Graib, My Lai, etc, whereas the bush cabal, Israeli spokespersons tend to lack honesty.

3. bush & his cabal denied Hersh's reports before...and were proved
to be the bullshitters that they indeed are.

Hersh is correct.

Israel's rightwingnut government is lying.

And the entire world (other than the rightwingnut morans) knows it.

9. Israeli spokes people open their mouths only to lie
No cluster bombs used - people now being injured in lebonan
No ambulances bombed- ambulance with hole in the middle of the red cross
No bombing of refugees- video of bombing of evacuees
No bombing of hospitals- video of hospitals bombed
No bombing of U.N. posts- 6 U.N. observers dead from bombing

The Israeli officials lie every time they open their mouths.

The Israelis have Zero credibility.

bush opens his mouth, and the same -lies-always-lies

13. "we did not plan war with the united states"
what they meant to say was..."we did not plan the war-well- with the united states". i think they want to forget the late shipment of bombs that had to be rushed from the usa and caused some pr problems with the british isles and the rest of the world...but they should just keep sticking to the story cause everyone still believes what they said

17. I am smiling at that
statement. Hell, look at all the tough talk bush was spouting when all this began and now look at what was agreed too in the ceasefire. A whole lot different then what bush wanted early on. What i must do is give a tip of the hat to Syria and Iran for not taking the bait and entering into this battle. I do believe this was what bush was after from the very beginning and as the days passed and there was no evidence that either country would leap, then something had to be done, and we see what was agreed too.....
I would like to see peace in the Middle East and see respect for any person, no matter if they be Muslim, Christian, Catholic, but you can not understand another's point of view unless you can agree to sit down and talk to each other. I know this is too simple a way, but then again simple to bush may be just too damn hard.....

20. I think Israel got baited into this war..then got booted out...by bush
cheney etal. And when the world got outraged and Syria and Iran were looking like they would just stand back and watch Israel and the US get MORE hated...well time to call off the dogs of war!

22. Close to spot on, IMO
I'd only suggest one correction: I think Israel may have been cheered into this war, not by Dear Leader but by Darth Cheney and a couple of his ghoulish henchmen. :(

What a f'ing blood bath that only served to make both sides of this horrible blood feud MORE ENTRENCHED.

Remember, the Neo-Cons thrive on hatred and chaos because they KNOW it will keep the chicken-shit lemming type Americans (far too many than I'd care to believe) voting Republican.

The Neo-Cons LOVE perpetual war ... the Corporations in the War Machine (Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, KBR, Various other ARMS corporations, etc.) continue to make a KILLING in more ways than one. ;) :grr:
