WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush isn't exactly eager to lend his support to the Republican nominee in Connecticut's tumultuous Senate race.

The White House was circumspect on Monday when asked whether Bush would support Republican Alan Schlesinger in the three-way fall contest that includes Democratic nominee Ned Lamont and three-term incumbent Sen. Joe Lieberman.

"The president supports the democratic process in the state of Connecticut and wishes them a successful election in November," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

With a Democratic primary victory under his belt, Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont said Monday he's hoping to coax some of U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman's union supporters and other groups to switch allegiances and support him in November. (AP Photo/Jessica Hill)

Bush routinely backs Republican candidates in races all across the country.

3. sort of off topic
the phone rang last night... my partner took the call, it was one of those robbie-the-robot automated calls

...we're taking a survey....

If the election were held today would you vote for Santorum or Casey, press 1 for Santorum, press 2 for Casey...

2

...Swann or Rendell... 1 for Swann, 2 for Rendell...

2

...Sherwood or Carey... 1 for Sherwood, 2 for Carey...

2

...thank-you. This survey was paid for by the Santorum campaign... click

my partner chuckled...she gave me the brief version of the survey...and then said "You know, I've lived here for over 15 years and I think I've only had one other survey call years ago and that was on a local election. Never on something of a federal/statewide issue. But in the past 3 weeks, between getting them at home and work, I've had a half-dozen or so - all sponsered by some republican group. What do you think it means?"

me, smirking... "it means they're desperate..."

4. Vague? They are supporting unholy Joe. Joe is giving his soul
to the devil in exchange for campaign support. If he gets into the Senate, he will have to pay with his integrity. lol He does not have any integrity left after accepting help from Rove. And this is the hypocrit who screamed against Clintons little BJ. What Lieberman is doing is much worse. He has sold his soul.

7. Just wait until they convince Schlesinger to leave the race, then they
can give the party nod to Lieberman. Watch for it to happen. They are probably still cooking up something special to give to Joe to make him switch parties. He's been spouting Puke talking points since he lost the primary and crying about how the Democratic Party has left him. He's got great approval ratings amongst Ct GOP voters. I think as a Puke, Joe has a chance in a squeaker to steal this seat from us. The GOP is desperate and they know they can't get this seat with anyone they have on the bench right now. Since it's all about Joe, I really can't see what's holding him back other than Schlesinger staying on the ticket. I really hope the DNC is coming up with some kind of plan to work Joe over and get him to drop his run.

8. phone surveys, exit polls, etc.
Do not honestly answer these things. You are being "mined" for data that
will be used to defeat you. Hang up or give them wrong answers.
Secret ballot rights are supposed to protect you against this.
Why give your opponent "intelligence" --

Stand up for yourself, your candidate, the constitution. Don't give away the farm.
